This isn't really news, i just can't get over it...
We were promised Neuromancer directed by Chris Cunningham, with soundtrack by Richard D. James (just imagine...).
Instead we get Neuromancer directed by Joseph Kahn, with soundtrack by...i don't know...probably Paul Van Dyk or David Guetta or something. And in the lead role: Hayden Christensen. What happened?
Joseph Kahn, in case you don't know, is responsible for this:

I'd like to see the Chris Cunningham and R.James combo again on anything. Actually any feature by Cunningham would be cool...I wonder if he has any other plans...

Cunningham + Aphex Twin would have been simply perfect for Neuromancer. A shame.

I was thinking Chris Cunningham is having a hard time convincing producers he can make something commercial and accessible enough.

Yea to be fair, Chris Cunningham makes cool videos but he's never directed a film before has he? From what I hear he pulled out because he didn't want to deal with the Hollywood process (not having control over the final cut and so on).
- yeah exactly, itd get touchy with him and the studios. He should just make an indie and go all out.eieio

david fincher or alfonso cuarón ("children of men" style) would be cool. i just don't see hayden christensen as case though.
i recently went to a new agey direct reading/play of neuromancer http://www.newmuseum.org/events/… . pillow seats, indonesian band performed the soundtrack, brightly colored cubes covered in eastern prints served as the transition into cyberspace... one of the most bizarre things i've seen in a long time.

...and now it's Vincenzo Natali: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neu…
Still not Chris Cunningham. But...anybody but Joseph Kahn (gah!) will do. At least those Cube movies had an interesting concept of sorts...

I thought this movie was called Johnny Mnemonic.
