brrr...it's raining today.
if you somehow get lost and end up in studio city / burbank, gindi thai has great food and great value. grilled salmon is around 13 bucks. woohoo. love it. :-)

If you're at the Edison I'd go down the alley to check out the Smell while your there. (http://www.thesmell.org) Imagine Pehrspace, but older, dirtier, and with a way cooler space. (Pehrspace has some cool events, but its in a shopping center...)
You could also try 7 Grand not to far from there. (http://www.sevengrand.la/) They have tons of whiskey, occasionally nice live music, and its nice inside. Plus its also a few floors below an awesome motion graphics studio that could almost share its sign.

Great guys, thanks for all the awesome insight! I've never been to the states before, so this will be my very first glimpse.
I married a peruvian earlier this year, so i'm heading over to meet all his friends etc. We're considering to move there for a year, so it will give me a chance to check it out and make up my mind.
Plus i'm really excited to be going to Machu Picchu and the jungle... i'm going to catch me a piranha and the sloth's are so cute!

you should check out skid row...this place tells you a lot about the America you do not see on tv. i use to live 2 blocks north of second street, and this video is not an exaggeration.
