I know there's photographers on QBN. Iam enjoying photography a lot and all but i dont know shit when it comes to the equipment.
I want a wide-angle lens. I want to be able to take large shot and make blured background pictures. I dont have a lot of money. I heard Sigma make cheap lens that are pretty good. Is it true, wich model would you suggest me??

Your question is kinda nonsensical as it's the telephoto lenses that deliver blurry background (and a few other factors) but definitely not wide angle lenses. I think you know enough about photography yet for the need to spend $$ thus if i were you i would stick with what came with your camera kit and keep on education yourself about f-stops, shutter, focal length, white balance etc. And only then you can make an educated decision yourself. And yes, Sigma makes fine lenses on par with Canon (but cheaper).

i know about the blurry thing... Iam tired of being stuck with the 18-55mm that came with my Rebel XTi, it feel too narrow. And i dont need a tele, I just want to make wide shots.

if you want wide & blurry/bokeh backgrounds, then you're going to want a fast lens of f1.4 or larger really... and any fast lenses wider then 50mm gets pretty damn expensive.

argh..... optical physics....
Try using the lens you have, use in M manual or AV mode, set your aperture to F3.5, 18mm and get as close as possible to your subject with the background as far as possible, you will get at least some blurry background... make sure there is light on the background...try outdoor late afternoon for side light....
Otherwise, get a 50mm F1.8 lens for $105, set it to F1.8 or F2, get about 3 feet from subject with background far away and see how blurry background can be...
Switching brands doesn't make much difference if the lenses are similar focal length and f-stop.... some $$$ sigmas are F1.8, but big and expensive and twitchy AF...
a tilt-shift photoshop filter may interest you too.....
- thanks for the tips. The blurry thing isn't a big deal. I was more looking for wider shotsbenfal99

Dude you already have a wideangle in that one you have. You're not going to get a cheap wideangle lens. Used maybe? but still not going to be cheap.
If you're looking to buy a second lens on the cheap, go with the canon 50mm 1.8. Really good bang for your buck. 150 cnd. You'll really get some enjoyment out of it.

HERE IS AN ANSWER:
This is the wide-angle lens with the shallowest DOF:

The Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for Canon! It is wider than your kit lens, and will produce a blurred background if your subject is close enough to the camera.
The next best lens for your purposes, benfal, is the sigma 10-20mm f3.5 for canon:
http://www.lensrentals.com/rent/…I am linking you to a rental site for both of these lenses so you can try them out before you decide to buy them. The tokina is $600 and the sigma is $650. Both of them are cheaper, and have shallower depth of field, than the house-brand Canon 10-22mm f3.5-4.5, which runs $700. I should mention, though, that I have rented that same canon lens four time and have been pleased with the results.
I hope that helps.

Rent , rent, and then rent again, man. I'm not sure what camera stores are near you, but I go to Calumet Photo in Chicago and try whatever interests me. If it works, I rent it.
I only buy if I'm replacing one of my main girls... we for me are portrait lenses.
