Can you get somebody to sign a contract via email? Or do you have to sign it and post it?

I would always have a physical signature (scanned okay). it's just adds that much more official'ism'izms.

you can get some one to sing a contract electronically on a online form that then gets emailed to you
you have to use fancy legal jargon saying that by submitting the form it is the same as signing a contract we do this all the time

i heard an email is enough ... cross my heart.

When push comes to shove in a legal setting, agreeing to a contract via email is considered binding, much like a verbal contract. Of course, dibec is right in that a hard copy is unbeatable.
- the deposit payment is as binding as a signature.zarkonite

what we use
I have read this Contract and agree to abide by its terms and conditions:
By typing your full name EXACTLY as it appears below, then clicking the ACCEPT button, you indicate your acceptance of the terms therein:

Ive always gone to the trouble of mailing the contract and getting ink on paper.
Id like to hear more experiences with the e-signatures, and if they've held up in court.

Check this out. I'm based in London and think this company is US based. Have to say its amazingly simple. All you need is your contract saved as a PDF. No matter if its 1 page or 100 pages... You can set up a proper digital signature, people can sign via iPhone or BB... I've used it 3 times, even stupid un-techy clients get it and you get a digital signature back in your email.

here in europe you can sign contracts online using your national ID (you plug it into a USB reader), this website is all kinds of awesome:

them saying, "I agree", in an email, is enough. really.

You are probably right, but I have them snail mail me a copy signed. It takes none of your time and you have the real deal after that. No guesswork.
