Which do you use? which do you think is right? According to the dictionary website is not a word.

"website" is informal and has caught on.

Sorry, what I meant to say was, the dictionary isn't so great at rules for newish words like this. They tend to adjust their "official rules" based on the popular consensus anyway, so I'd go with what people use more. Go to most company sites and I think you'll see they use "website."

I think website is now somewhat dated, "site" would suffice in almost all circumstances. A bit like putting 'www.' as the first part of your site name, people explicitly qualify non-web domains with mail., ftp. whatever.
