That happened to me, they stole my HP laptop with my iPod, i had soo many pictures there of my trip to Colombia, also with my girlfriend.. I'm still pissed, i know how you feel man.

Sorry to hear about this. My apt was robbed a few years ago, about a month after my Father In Law died and they took the rings he left for my husband/his son, as well as some valuable coins, and all of my jewelry. However they left my computer and all of our band equipment (go figure!). I guess they just needed stuff that could be carried easily. Renter's insurance covered some of it (not the coins though). It's definitely a horrible feeling knowing someone came into your space (we think the guy was staking out the place before hand, so it's a creepy feeling). So I empathize.
They will just wipe your computer though, so you're probably OK on that score.

It's your own damn fault for not backing your computer up. Let this be a lesson to you. Too bad you pics are gone, but it's because you're irresponsible... can't blame the crack-fiend robbers.

Nobody figured if there a couple backup drives on the desk they'd probably have nabbed those too?
Anyway, it's too bad you don't have Lojack or something similar... hope you recover from that violated feeling though. If you have the serial # you can at least keep a lookout for items being sold nearby on ebay and get them checked out.
