Because like, honestly that’s not a craaaazy bad tweet. Really. He didn’t call for the death of anyone or advocate violence or anything. It’s not good, of course, and he should be called out for it, but like, is this a bit much?

I live in nyc and I know Jews are hyper-sensitive to anti-semitism (and I understand why!!!) Like, I get it. But living in nyc, I have also seen some people take the slightest comment and act like they’re being persecuted by a word or gesture. I’ve heard people throw around accusations of anti-semitism in absurd situations. Some people, it’s all they want to talk about. Example: I’m at a design or art talk that has nothing to do with politics and someone will bring up anti-semitism in the q+a and everyone in the room is like WHAT where did that come from??
Anyway, Defcon 3 doesn’t mean much and can’t even be taken literally in this context.
But maybe there was more from Kanye that I missed.

I think there is a different criteria for what you can say in public when you have that much influence, power and visibility. I feel like we should hold public figures (across any category) to a higher standard, and thats the price you pay for the fame, money and freedom you have as a superstar.
