Hold up, is all this cancelled shit just a result of the “defcon 3 on Jews” tweet? Is that it?
Because like, honestly that’s not a craaaazy bad tweet. Really. He didn’t call for the death of anyone or advocate violence or anything. It’s not good, of course, and he should be called out for it, but like, is this a bit much?
Those goons on the overpass need to have their teeth kicked in but I do feel that cancelling Kanye is a bit of an overreaction. If that’s the only tweet. He didn’t advocate violence or even stereotype, did he?
I live in nyc and I know Jews are hyper-sensitive to anti-semitism (and I understand why!!!) Like, I get it. But living in nyc, I have also seen some people take the slightest comment and act like they’re being persecuted by a word or gesture. I’ve heard people throw around accusations of anti-semitism in absurd situations. Some people, it’s all they want to talk about. Example: I’m at a design or art talk that has nothing to do with politics and someone will bring up anti-semitism in the q+a and everyone in the room is like WHAT where did that come from??
Anyway, Defcon 3 doesn’t mean much and can’t even be taken literally in this context.
But maybe there was more from Kanye that I missed.
