The extra money you pay for the technology is never replaced by the cost savings in fuel.
- I live in Norway..this is almost the cheapest car you can get...********
- Depends on how long you have the car for now doesn't it?Musky_Chinchila
- the batteries are only warranted for 100,000 miles i believe....i think 4 grand to replace themrusty_ace
- Does it? More than any other car?********
- ok, did not know that********
- If they are warranted for 100,000 they'll probably work for 130-150,000miles without a worry, and you'll want a new car by then anyways.Amicus

Well, I currently own a Mercedes coupe, but believe it or not its really bad in terms of quality. Also, I fucking hate the Mercedes service people. Arrogant as fuck..in Norway at least..

I think they're pretty nice.... but I'd rather have an A3 or something else.

buying a Toyota basically means you're willing to sacrifice style and driving quality for reliability and affordability.
- Its not as if you make the sacrifice for the rest of your life. Could be worth doing once..********

How do the batteries hold up in Norwegian winters? There have been some complaints here in Canada during the winter months of battery life going down. I guess that's where the gas-engine kicks in, but that kind of defeats the purpose, yeah?
- Dont know..should ask the dealer. Well, I´ll at least be one of those cool enviromental guys ;)********

How is it in snow? I'd go for one of these, but I think we need more space.
Also, can you play DJ AM in the vehicle?
- ok in snow, typical front wheel drive stuff; dj am equippedbilll
- Storage space = 445 litres********

I think they're ok.
A fiat Panda does more miles to the gallon though. There are greener options.
- Thats why they are cheap in Norway. A Porsche Cayenne coster three times the price in the US!!********

som info i came across
"Toyota's Prius warranty is 8 years / 100,000 miles on the hybrid system components e.g. inverter, electric motor, generator, and nickel metal hydride battery.
Their documentation states the expected life of the nickel metal hydride batteries is 150,000 miles "based on laboratory bench testing". The remainder of the vehicle is the typical 3 years/36,000 miles.
Additional comments from my local Toyota service manager, (whom I've known for about 25 years and has shared freely what he knows on a number of technical questions) indicated they alway have some number of Prius that have crossed the 200,000 mile point on the original batteries." http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthre…

I can't wait until these batteries all start going out. I believe theyre about $3k + labor.
