Any tips on using it? I've managed to ignore it since its inception.
Maybe people have some tips for improving workflow.
"Don't bother," will suffice too, just interested.

Don't Do it.

do it

i use it all the time to view file contents (like a stock image folder i have or client supplied files) and then it creates the html galleries for images that photoshop used to do. just scratching the surface i guess but it's very handy in some situations.
- Playing around with this now. I like the scroll-zoom and move around options for viewing AI/PSD files that Finder cannotdMullins

It is a ram eater.
- buy more ram. it's cheap as chips. i have 11GB and it's fine.airey
- It's completely inefficient, is my point.DrBombay
- 11 gigs of ram? That's anbunreasonable requirement.DrBombay
- and it's unreasonable even.DrBombay
- hahaha. time is money and i want this investment to work as well as it can.airey
- a couple of GB is only a few hundred bucks so it was pretty cheap.airey
- saying that i bought that over about a year. slowly upgraded.airey
- not a RAM eater anymore (in CS4)CyBrain
- Oh so that is the improvement they made in CS4 ;)DrBombay
- There are tons of improvements in CS4. Don't believe the anti-hype.CyBrain

Way easier to browse for a file in a large collection than Finder/Explorer. I use it in my icon creation workflow a lot and when I can't remember the exact file I'm looking for. Its also easy to do batch operations like rename or other things with it.
Not many people know this either but if you look in the upper right corner of Filter panel there's an icon with a folder and a red circle on it. If you click that it will show you all the files in the subdirectories of the folder you're in. Immensely useful.

As a follow-up, I ended up using this fix for Quick Look instead, and it has sped up a number of day-to-day issues for me:

Look at Scott Kelley's photoshop books, he's got a few chapters going over workflow.
I love it and just started using it. You can rate photos, organize by ratings, etc., etc. Create contact sheets, and lotsa other time saving tips.
- all of this you could do in PS cs3 before they took it away in cs4, except a useless feature like rating photos.rusty_ace

yeah, i love it.... even in cs3.

Started using it again with CS3, good for raw files.

I've not used it, but from what i hear, you may be missing the point. Adobe Bridge is exactly that, a bridge between Adobe applications. Now I'm just going off what I've heard, but there is apparently a tonne of file compatibility and version control features between Adobe Apps and thats barely scratching the surface. It's a lot more than just a file browser.
But then I don't use it either...

I stopped using it. It eats up all my RAM

if you are using it just as a file browser it's overkill, use something else, even tho CS4 is much faster, if you want to do other stuff such as airey, formed & ninja said above it works very well. It does a ton of other stuff which is program specific like quickly viewing multi effects in AE, working with mobile apps, colour prefs etc etc. depends what you need, like everything

Huh, I use it in CS3 on a laptop with 2gigs and it rarely slows with folders full of RAW files. Slow, sometimes, but gotta expect that with files of that size.
I just love that you can preview all the files, unlike explorer.
Great program, imho, if it is indeed faster in CS4 then I can't wait for CS5. When is that coming out again??
- in cs3 every time i tried to view a folder with a few hundred illustrator files it would crash...i stopped using itrusty_ace

Bridge is a great tool.
I saved a lot of time using it to browse & copy paste image in heavy content catalog.

I use it all the time.

Works if you do shoots, and need to do shot selects.

i love it. cs3 version is crap however. cs2 does not work. cs4 is fine
