My brother and his team after 12 years at IBM, Canada, have just been outsourced to India.
AND they are expected to train their replacements.
I am sad and mad.

...they'll soon realise that Indian development centres are truly crap, and will return back on-shore. I have worked with offshore dev teams and they are just hopeless. They won't get better any time soon...
- some are good, some are bad, mostly the issues are with management thinking people are interchangeablevaxorcist

That's good to hear dajaniel. No way could anyone learn in a couple of months what has taken years to develop, employ and understand.

Question?
If the government is throwing millions to protect the car industry (which has no future)
Why don't they protect the IT jobs which do have a future.- excellent question. Just because there's less money implicatedbenfal99

The reason Vista was such a failure was so much of the development was outsourced to India, now they had to bring it back to the US for Windows 7.
Your brother should train the new team to do a poor job!- good idea!alicetheblue
- u might get to go to india...SlashPeckham
- Vista wasn't a failure, I don't know where you take this fromGeorgesII

Alice, seriously why are you mad??
India didn't invent Globalisation, I Believe its a typical western thing, if IBM wants to use cheap labor so be it, I don't believe a worker is bad because he's indian or canadian.
Your bro should be Happy he got to work there for 12 years and move on.- I don't think Alice is mad because they're Indian or Canadian somehowShaneHolley

A friend of mine worked at a flash animation studio who were outsourcing a lot of material to India. He was asked to go over for a couple of weeks to train people up on working on the projects and he agreed. When I told him he was basically training other people to do his job he said, 'If I train them I'm made redundant, if I don't I'm made redundant, at least this way I get a holiday to India first.'
And he was right.
