Mirrorball, just got a new macbook pro and after consideration I opted for the smaller 120gig SSD instead of a regular SATA HD. Its fast, especially coming from using an older g4 powerbook. Starts up quick (about 15 seconds), programmes load fast and the os seems very responsive. Only loaded stuff onto it this week, so not a huge time to test it out yet but at first paces I would very much recommend it.

It helps ... but look at bench marks for read/write speeds. I don't think the technology is there yet. For the amount that you pay, the space you get, and speeds, I frankly don't find them cost effective.
If you got money to blow ... go for it.

Sounds good shitehawk, getting a macbook pro soon & seriously thinking of 13" with SSD. Just use my external pocket hardrives as backup.
Did you partition the SSD drive for a scratch disk when using Photoshop?

look at Western Digital VelociRaptor (not SSD)
