For Skateboarders: Most of you are posers. Skateboarding is the new football. You're a bunch of jocks, except worse because most jocks actually have a real interest in the sport they do. 99% of the skateboarders I've met stand around with their board more than they skate it. It's like a purse. They just hold it. And then they bitch about how they want to be sponsored and talk about how they wanna be just like (insert pro skateboarders with mtv show here). And the corporate shit amazes me. For an "underground culture", your pros sure jump at every opportunity to sell out for some corporation thats just gonna drop them as soon as skateboarding isn't cool again. These companies pay for pros to represent them but I'd bet if you went to their corporate headquarters they'd kick your ass out for skating there too. I mean, come on, Nike Skateboarding? Are you serious? So, what's my point? Well, the culture of skateboarding is bankrupt. That's why it amused me that skateboarders are the first to talk shit on other sports when they sold out without a second thought. Skateboarding is dead. If you don't believe me go down to the mall where they sell skateboarding brands in the Buckle right next to the Lucky Jeans or take a trip to your local park where parents drop off their little ones to be babysat by organized classes that teach you how to skateboard, as if it were soccer or baseball or something less than a personal pursuit.
- the rant isn't against you surface, sorry, just had to get it out of my system.itsmitch

- you're dead. we just built a ledge spot out in the woods which took 2 days of building and cleaning.section_014
- You could say this about any industry. Welcome to marketing 101. There will always be posers, thats what makes $.XB12

counter culture is dead in general

itsmitch, you clearly never had the pleasure to skate the ledges of a mall at 2 in the night with your friends and then relaxing with a 6 pack and possibly a joint.
as long as someone will keep doing that, skateboarding will NEVER be dead.- I actually skateboard, snowboard, rollerblade and surf when I can. So, I've had similar pleasures.itsmitch
- didi you say you skate... and rollerblade?IRNlun6
- gayblade? your earlier post is voided.section_014
- Nothing is wrong in partaking in the activity, its just when you drop out that there becomes a problem.

skateboarding isnt about what other people think of it. Granted, there was a time when being a skater felt like being a part of an exclusive club, we wore brands nobody had heard of, we were hated by the mainstream public and that suited us fine..
but the ethos of skateboarding doesnt lie with that, the ethos is about skating some blocks/ledges/rails with your close friends, scouting possible spots for hours at till 4am, snapping decks and snapping ankles, slamming so hard you feel like puking and getting up to do it all over again.. seriously I had the best time of my life being a skater
skating is a mainstream commodity these days but that is just money, as long as theres people skating for the right reasons, skateboarding will never die

DAYMN that 10 foot guy should be banned from ever holding a spray can again if he's putting crap like that on our walls!! At least Banksy puts some effort into his shit!!
That's not graffiti, it's just pointless vandalism for the sake of being cool. No wait, TRYING to be cool
- im pretty sure 10foot would have something to say about that///Stugoo

hmmm... yeah i also had a hard time looking for new skate shoes here in Berlin

Peps was skating Nike´s way before the SB´s came out, Nike have had a couple of shoes out before under other names aswell...remember Savier??
But yeah, don´t think the head cooks of Nike have to much love for skating but it sure will get them boners now when money is flowing their way and the hype is on their side!

Try having a creative director sitting nearby with one of these next to his desk, 24/7, collecting dust..
Until of course he happens to have a client or visitor around, and obligatorily pulls it out in order to "casually rock an ollie", never making it, then sticking it back under his desk and moving along.
