Apple makes the worst mice ever. Not anywhere near as good as Microsoft's mice. I'm sick of apple more concerned with how things look than how they work. I have a macbook pro and the thing is a piece of shit. It cant even run a web browser properly.

turn it upside down and roll a baby wipe over it from front to back then right to left. I used always dismantle mine and fuck about with the inards but now they always work fine after the baby wipe thing.

I love the mouse and the feel of the scroll wheel so much, the only thing I dislike is the squeeze. But yeah they really need to make a way to easily clean he bastard or perhaps swap the scroll ball for a touch surface at some point

fuck microsoft mice though anything is better than those, the plastic feels so horrible and cheap and the buttons creak to fuck.

You CAN clean the scroll ball. It's not broken, just dirty.
But to anyone considering buying a mouse from Apple: Don't.
- Meeklo0
Are you sure its not just dirty?
Blow some air on the ball while its upside down as you roll the scrolling ball with your fingers to let the dirt out. Do this 3 times and you will realize that not only your mouse works just as new, but that you threw away 2 more because you thought they didn't work right.I would like to state that I love this mouse too, its accurate, comfortable, solid construction and looks great. but its not for everyone.

I imagine Apple sees this as a failure in some respects and will probably come out with some touch/gesture based device that will 'reinvent' the mouse.
- Meeklo0
I dont think they see it as failure, its a great mouse.
they might come up with something else, sure
but some people will consider it useful, some will just hate on it sounds more accurate to me.

put ur mouse upside down, move it around a lot on ur desk, on the axis of the wheel. do that for like 30 seconds, then BOH! it works again.

I've still got an optical tracking mighty mouse from a couple of years ago, the track ball works fine. most designers seem to eat at there desk and after gobbling a greasy sandwich fail to wash their hands as they while away their lunch hour on qbn . sometimes you need to use their mac for a moment - as you touch their mouse it's slips out your hands it so greasy. yuk... you'll get swine flu touching something like that... no wonder they stop working.
anyway... is there a vast improvement with the new laser tracking version of the mouse?
Cos, as a freelancer I experience many different types of desk surfaces - and the mouse works with none of them.

bring it in. all Apple products have a warranty. I buy one every 3 months it seems. Just bring into an Apple store, if not bought there just bring a receipt. They will take care of you. ;)
