Their bags are actually really nice.
I recently saw an exhibit on LV when I was in Hong Kong at their art museum. It was amazing to see the history, which I only knew part of. The "LV" monogram we all see has been around 100+ years and was developed to help stop counterfiting (if I remember correct). Their original luggage was aweomse! The collaboration between artists and how Tom Ford redefined them. There is a ton of history that got lost when asia (and others) decided they loved it for status and it went super luxery... but understand it before you call it crap.
Don't buy their jewlery... their bags and luggage are the only things worth it, and you are paying a lot for the name, but the quality is nice for everything I've seen.

I remember my mom having a Louis Vuitton purse back in the 80's. Thought it was ugly back then.

ok, maybe i didn't get my point right,
LV bags are tacky as hell, and some months ago they did a TV show showing were they were made (same place as Gucci, D&G, etc) by underpaid chinese workers, then they showed the same bag in the store at an exorbitant price.
its was crazy, cost of production around +30€ for a purse, in store the same purse went for 900€,
I know its luxury, but this is only a scam, a finely done scam

..and Nike and others aren't overpriced? That's the success of good design + marketing + placement at work. I'm sure my Diesel Jeans didn't cost 150 to make either :P
