Okay I have a question... right now I'm riding a Raleigh hybrid from the late 90s, all budget parts, 21-speed– parts are mine but my dad owns the frame. So since I'm all the way over here on the west coast, I'd love to have a bike and I might as well own it all. Out here, I could do with a single speed but back home I definitely need 15-speed since it's ALL hills.
Would it be easy enough to build a single speed and change it later, with the same frame?
Where could I get a good used frame around Los Angeles?

Am tinkering on the edge right...
'Globe San Francisco 1 —
Built for the urban-aholic that likes to take the streets by the throat, this bike will outmaneuver and out-pace city traffic any day of the week. Perfect for a quick commute, joy ride or just thrashing around the city streets.'Only one gear, how hard on a level of 1—11 to get it up a hill?

that bike will not out-pace anything. It's got mountain bike tyres... waay to fat. Looks pretty heavy too. Go road wheels go gears and off-road
