some people really just dont know how to stop at critique. They usually go past it to bashing.
Crit = "I think the color choice is a little overwhelming. Try and pull it back."
Bashing = "Your color choice fuckin sucks. fail."
The people who bash are often the ones who dont share their work.

so true.lvl_13 - i see absolutely no difference in your examplesversion3
- Your examples of crit and bash are both crit, but from different tempered people. Relax and sort it out, I say.blaw

QBN is a tough crowd, but not mean-spirited. If something sucks it will take a beating. Laurels to the good. Hey, this isn't Elementary School.

- dude, there are several mean spirited people here.rippedursite
- I wasn't counting you, sir.blaw

i think that your criticism of people who criticize is overly critical.

i couldn't care less, unless it would be constructive criticism. for the rest, fuck opinions, i don't design for designers..

Because there are several distinct motivations on play, and several kinds of people in an Internet forum. It's not very different from any other kind of forum as far as I've seen. Basically, not being face to face with someone, allows you to be much more critical. It's definitely not like a class-room or a workshop, where you feel the need to measure your words and play with the situation.
If that's good or bad, I really have no idea. But, as in any group of people, there's also a sort of identity and commonly accepted bullshit. So it could be even worse.

At least we have the decency to be utter twats in real life too, unlike in some other forums.
- oh, I see corvo2 went the opposite way on this one.Nairn
- Actually, I don't think you ever saw me bashing anyone's work. I do rant about design in general though.Corvo2
- And I have no real life.Corvo2
- I never for one second intended to suggest you were as low as the rest of us. You are a shining beacon of hope.Nairn

A thread coming from a guy who calls me a jackass when I was having a serious conversation. You ass.
- nicole_marie0
when somebody is asking for criticism i think you have to expect some harsh rather unnecessary comments and have tough skin, but all in all they help no matter what. what i don't agree with is when nobody is asking for a crit of their own work and somebody just comes out with a "oh yea and your work is shit" (usually that being the people who have no website posted themselves)
