acer 1 is a good unit. wifi drops out occasionally needing a reboot, but other than that, really good.

I have the msi wind - does the job. Larger keyboard than the dell mini.

the lenovo is the best one i've tried out. HP is a close second. haven't tried the dell hands on.

I've played around with the small acer ones (10"), was thinking about getting one for surfing the net in the living room.
At $350 (cnd), it's a pretty decent deal.

Using an Acer One right now. Have had it about 4 months and love it. Carrying it on the road for simple email, surfing, and for some programs. It's runs XP Home and I have Open Office running on it just fine. 160GB Hard Drive, 1GB Ram - $300.00! It saves wear and tear on my 'tool box' configured laptop, extending it's possible life. Also works great on the airplane tray table, instead of a bigger one. Can't go wrong in my opinion.

ASUS EEE and Toshiba's new one are the best ones rated by The Register. My Dad got an EEE, and it's a sweet wee machine, but the Toshiba was a very close second (I chose, based on brand - I read Reg review afterwards and *slightly* regretted my decision, but not much)
Having just set up one of Dell's netbooks on my network, I'd advise against it - the trackpad is ******ing shit, and I had to fiddle with it to get it to get internet wirelessly, as the Dell software is fucking useless. Pretty machine though.
- Fucking Dell had over 500mb of software idling on XP - what the fuck's the point in that? Stupid cunts.Nairn

Have the Asus EEE and the Acer aspire, both great for what you're looking for. And for the record I was probably the first QBN with a mini-notebook..I was riding this trend in '07 bitches...

I bought a Samsung NC10 about a month ago and I love it. I'm using it as my main machine -> it's pretty fast, added an extra gig of ram so 2gb in total which is pretty okay for most things. Keyboard is almost as large as regular size, which makes a lot of difference. The battery lasts for ages & it's super portable .. would definitely recommend it. There's also an N110 now, which is a slightly revised version (has a glossy screen, larger touchpad and an even longer lasting battery).

try before you buy, the keyboard on my friend's netbook drove me crazy.....

For portability and basic Office apps/Internet the netbooks seemed really nice. I've only tried them from coworkers... but for the pricepoint they're awesome. A macbook air is a waste of time at the pricepoint.
