The first photo is very stalkeresque. If that was really candid.. the photographer would have been tackled before he snapped the shot.

I would think this is mostly about reinforcing the notion "transparency" in how the administration speaks to the public.

If you actually take the time to look through the 300 or so photos, you will discover that they are, indeed, quite candid and not posed. The president's photographer really is with him all the time in this day and age. Just like anything else, once you get used to something it just becomes natural and sinks into the background. I think these photos really show a stark difference between the character of this white house versus that of the previous administration.
