9500. i have the 9000 and the dye ink is stellar. the pigment-based of the 9500 are even better, especially the blacks & greys.

unexpected, i thought the epson would be tiny better. :-)

epson has the paper supplies (2 dozen compared to canon's dozen) and may have some more gimmicky toys. their print quality is arguably better on the canon, but many argue it
there is talk that the epson is more of an ink hog. but i heard that all pigment-0based printers need to be run so they don't dry up. epson has a MUCH bigger paper selection, but Ilford has some good papers for cannon pending icc profile updates.
epson used to be able to print on cds, which only the european version of the canon could do that.
pay more and get the epson r2400, and epson wins and begins to pull ahead.

My Epson can print on CDs/DVDs, great feature.
I am sticking to Epson. Free overnight shipping on supplies, which I go through like crazy (makes the cost of the printer seems irrelevant).

I looked at both and after decided to upgrade to the epson 3800.
I can print 17" wide and upto 48" long. Neither of the two previous ones I was looking at had the ability to do a manual feed on thick stock except for the 3800. A bit more money up front, but more useful in the long run.- check out...

I had an Epson R1800, loved the print quality but hated the high maintenance, and the tendency for it to flake out whenever a deadline was near. The Epson really seemed to have a "stressed owner" sensor, and it misfed whenever a deadline was close.... Paper feeding issues happened very 5 or 6 pages.
The R1800 drove me insane and I threw it in a storage locker, never to be seen again.... I'm not gonna lose a client over a printer that I can never count on to finish stuff by deadline....
I got a Canon 9500 and it just works. Fewer paper choices than Epson, etc.. but it just works....
