"Look, I would love to have all the best Mac stuff at work and at home...(cinema screen - yes)......but I JUST CANNOT AFFORD IT!!!
Mac culture is cool and all, but it is a little bit like owning a BMW - I just can't do that, and lots of companies cant and wont either."

i think this is the real reason PC users are against macs. they can't afford them, or they're just too cheap. they're the suped-up 1995 Honda Civic you spent all your money on, with the giant spoiler and the homemade 400hp engine that would explode into a million pieces if you took it passed 3rd gear. while the mac is the BMW. refined, that was born to be what it is... no mods needed, every piece was made for -and works with each other.
- ha true true. I too was a mac hater before I was willing to spend 2000+ bucks on a better computer.VectorMasked

I think the main problem has not been addressed completely in this thread.
The problem is that you people in that office are already using macs. There's no need for people to start posting stuff on PC pride and how mac users are cry babies.
If your company was in the process of investing on equipment for the first time... then sure, both PCs or Mac would do the job. But as of now you all already have macs in that place.

whats their god damned reason for this anyway. it makes no sense.
<IT guy> *HMM lets get rid of all these Macs and replace them with PCs. Those guys are too quiet with their lack of issues etc.
I switched from PC to MAC and love it. therefore, switching back will have the inverse effect no? Honestly, I use a PC at work for windows/asp.net development and use a pc laptop at home just for working from home, but my main machine at home is now a MAC. Why? no muss no fuss. That is what the IT department is afraid of.

Wow, this is still growing?
Fuck. Just send your boss to this thread, so that he too can come to the realization that your IT guys are morons, and that he should fire them, and give you a raise for saving him money.

I just have to butt in again to express my total amazement that some of you send printers files in native CS formats.
You actually think that sending 'files that a printer can't do shit with' is a bad thing?
My idea of hell when working as an artwork was a printer deciding that something isn't "right" with my work and fucking changing it!
Even before PDF's, we used to send them raw postscript - there's no fucking with that either.
You sound like amateurs!
