I'm assuming that the name KEM is a family name? You should probably talk to them about this and the combo of the green color along with generic logo. It seriously looks like it could be generic chemical label.... Am I pronouncing it wrong thinking it sounds like CHEMical
- coco_ono0
oh shit....good point...
Kem means ice cream in vietnamese....pronounce like "jam" but with a "g" instead of a "j"
I didn't think of the chemical association. The reason for green is that all the products in there are vero evnrio-friendly, biodegradable stuff.
- engrish... vero = verycoco_ono
- Is this in Vietnam or in North America or where? If it's in North America then people will pronounce it CHEMtparsons
- yeah everyone i know has been pronouncing it as "chem"coco_ono
- who would think there would be a cafe of chemicals... durrcoco_ono

Just caught up with this thread. Sorry to hear of it. I was once talking to Carlos Segura (excuse the name drop) and he was talking about a client of his who wanted a swoosh logo. Carlos got together a whole A3 page of swoosh logos, and included his client’s logo and tested how long the it took for the client to pick his logo out.
After which, he told the client he would not produce the swoosh logo and understood if the client wished to take his business elsewhere. the client stayed.
- i quite like segura. im going to do that...coco_ono
- Exactly....tparsons

While I am all for “Modern and clean”, adopting this as the first port of call for the identity would be, I think, a mistake. Modern and clean is can be better represented by the atmosphere of the place, the cleanliness thereof, the quality of the food. That message gets lost amongst the generic blandness of the identity. The place could be so modern that Neutra would set up camp there and nobody would ever know because the fucking logo is boring as batshit.
Differenti-fucking-ate, get the people in there and SHOW them the place is clean and modern. A million tellings is no better than one showing, or some-such.
- soynutz70
maybe take a little more influence form the first and apply it to the second while still maintaining the simplicity. use the ruffled edges, dare i say, similar to the qbn logo? give the mark some character without going "fru fru"
- MrOneHundred0
It always kind of irks me when clients impose their own personal taste on an identity. Drop the fucking ego. This logo is not for you – it’s for your potential clients/customers. I don’t give a rat’s arse whether or not you “like green” or whether or not you are “frou frou”. If that is the best way to make your business stand out from the crowd, then you should trust the designer – or maybe you are really just a boring person and have nothing more to offer the world than any other random person in the street.

Alright. Here's the final update.
I tried to convince her out of the new direction in a persuasive, non-forceful approach. I showed her numerous logos with circles in my defense...
I communicated every possible aspect to allow her to understand...and she understood what I was coming from. Both logos communicated different personalities...blah blah blah...
Anyway -
I did, however, talk her out of the chemical green color...so that's something. But otherwise...she was understanding of where I was coming from as a designer...
So...there.
- i suck :(coco_ono
- Hats off. You got further than I would have, vis a vi, the swearing in my posts.MrOneHundred
