i like it! :)
the photogrpahy is beautiful etc etc
the one pet hat ei have is being spoon fed content
ie say i wanted to show someone the 5 photo of one of your projects. having to wait a couple of seconds per click, to go through the photos one by one is a wee bit of a drag
but asides from that. super smooth
thumbs up
- yeah, I've considered that... but I think the trade-off is worth it. And FYI, you can skip over sets of images using vertical arrow keys.Scotch_Roman

ahh and I would upload the logos as an eps if possible.
nothing is worse than an unsharp logo.
- DownHill0
site and photography very much like the made thought site... but with the nav at the top obviously, which is no bad thing... good stuff

Clean, crisp, fresh, like an iceberg lettuce dipped in ink and politely pushed into your vision, very nice. No problems here

Very nice!! btw, love the look of the menu. Font?
So all you QBNers worked together? I'm so proud! My boys...
oh, and how much did skt charged you?
- haven't decided yet.skt
- Mostly Mercury. Gotham headers. skt did me a good deal, you'll hafta ask him :)Scotch_Roman
- calm down gramme, i'm joking.skt

Great job skt! And i am glad quality QBNers are able to work with each other. This opens up a lot of doors...
- skt0
monNom, i think you are right about giving the user immediate feedback on clicking to a new image so have made an upadate...
this should also better highlight the preloader for anyone that was missing it.

VERY NICE. Here's my 2-cents:
1) - and + symbols should stay visible at all times, even if somewhat ghosted
2) Sharper images
3) Loads slowly
4) Logo looks rough and somewhat "pixelated" / smoother=better
5) Like the drop down for contact and port, but not the rest. Column too narrow for good readability
6) Progress bar/circle reminds me of PacMan and gets a little lost. Something different would be better.GREAT design work. Beautiful site. Almost there! :-)
- Why do I seem so critical, and others not? I feel horrible!GetRefresh
- According to Bringhurst, the small end of line length for running text is 30 characters. I'm at roughly 25.Scotch_Roman
- Trying to see if we have a bit of room to expand those columns, I do wish they could be wider.Scotch_Roman
- typist0
the kerning of "profile" is tighter than other 3 buttons?
if possible, rewrite some of the "info", so word don't have to hyphenate
i agree with getrefresh, the loading circle is buggin my eyes, a thin line running on the top of the photo will be just finegreat works guys, kudo
- did think about that... as an option. might clash a little with the collapsed nav though.skt
- and you were right about the kerning, thanks. i'm amazed gramme missed that.skt
- I saw that before, but wasn't sure if it was my browser or not. Kern away!Scotch_Roman
- gentleman0
so. umm.. who designed it?
skt or gramme?
- skt0
gramme did all the design work... i did the build and animation.

– and + are fine as is imo. A couple images might need a bit more highlight, but I'm not worried about that for now. Might address that with the next addition of work, I'm still shooting stuff.
Load time will go quicker on MT.
Logo looks pretty clean to me.
I know the columns are on the narrow side, but unless we totally overhaul the design, I can't go wider for the small screen folks. It would many, many hours work to reconfigure the layout for something that accomodates wider columns. I think it's quite legible as is, believe me we did as much work as Flash would allow to improve paragraph rags.
- (but if skt feels that my logo could be made smoother... then by all means do it).Scotch_Roman

yup, you're good. this new site is much better than the one you had before.

First off, just wanted to say you have some beautiful work in there Gramme...
The site is slick looking but I have some doubts on the usability. It took me a few goes to work out the buttons - I thought it would take me to next pic but then it enlarged (unless that was the next pic - smacks own forehead). I am old and a bit of a duffer though.
My biggest problem is the speed of the thing. If you weren't a qbner and it hadn't been built by skt I'm not sure I would have bothered waiting for the images to load. But again, Jersey (the island) only has 2mg broadband and that doesn't work properly...
And lastly I wouldn't have an image when you first load the site - confused me a lot. I though surfacemix was the name of the site at first.
I'm no web designer though guys so take with a pinch of salt...- But again, beautiful work and the site does look very nice.JerseyRaindog

well done, the both of you!
Nice work, great site.. and even better when you collapse the header...

Really nice job all around, I wish that the images had a little better quality on the compression. I generally set my image compression quality to 60% for full-size images.
- They are set to 80%.Scotch_Roman
- What is the physical size of image? E.g. 1920 x 1200utopian
- 1600x1067 for the large size. We made two size versions to accomodate varying resolutions.Scotch_Roman
- Mau0
- they only appear on hover, no?Jnr_Madison
- Ah, I see what you mean, it doesn't work on 800x600. Fine by me.Jnr_Madison
- yeah, it stops scaling when you get below a certain width...skt
- ...which is fine.Scotch_Roman
- Jnr_Madison0
I love it.
