Mis-spelling 'stationery' as 'stationary'.
Also a few times had people mail out their cv/work samples with no attachments. 'Please see attached...' quickly followed by a second email apologising for the fuck-up. FAIL.

I don't think designers should have pretty or clever CV's ... keep it straightforward.. decently set type. Your book / portfolio should show yr creativity.
- thank you!monospaced

I don't like it when a resume looks like shit.
- monospaced0
when people make design plural
"hey, check out my designs"
sounds like a sixth grader or something- gooooooooood calljimbojones
- an over-designed resume is also very annoying. especially with logos and colors, bleh!monospaced

• Snarky, choppy marketese
• Too many fonts
• Not making proper use of small caps or OSF if they're included in the chosen typeface(s)The word "skills" doesn't bother me at all, as long as people aren't being cutesy about it.
- faking small caps and OSF is a typographic rapingmonospaced

Funny commentary. Some CDs will tell you that if your resume isn't "designed" then you won't get a 2nd glance. Other times you send a PDF and are asked to send a Word document (that's always my favorite moment).

Jfletcher is pretty right on from above .. clean one page that says it all. Check out his website by the way. Good reading. The response from the side comment is correct but that would probably only apply for about 3% of us.
For those that think you can send a resume without portfolio samples .. GOOD LUCK. I usually expect to see a nice clean run of information. Some sample of designs or a link to a website! Website preferred above all else, if you don't know how to throw together a web portfolio then I am expecting about a 90% chance you would be wasting my times with any "skills" you have. Design speaks for itself I don't care what kind of degree you have. The brass of the top 10 fortune 500 companies don't have PHDs.
1 page of white clean sheet to skim with obviously link to online portfolio.
