So I'm looking for a new chair.
My lower back is pretty fussy and sitting at a desk all day kills it.
Taking price and looks out of the equation, what's the most ergonomic and comfortable chair? I'm leaning towards the Formway 'Life' chair at the moment.

bump ...sure you all reply straight away to a thread about some stupid kid high on drugs from the dentist but not my god damn legitimate, serious chair thread!!

Aeron is supposed to be nice.

Aeron's the true long-standing title holder.
But Herman Miller's Embody chair is brand new and I think is a promising contender.

It may be the best choice if you're truly taking price AND looks out of the equation.
- I might be the only one here who thinks so, but I like the way the Aeron looks, as well as the Embodymonospaced
- The Embody's looks take some getting used to for me. By now, the Aeron's simply a contemporary classic.waterhouse

also, if you have bad back issues put a box or some obstruction about a foot in front of where you put your feet, to prevent you from extending them and then lounging/slouching. that, the chair, a new mattress and a great D.O. (NOT a chiropractor) has made my back issues disappear.

aeron - its worth the money and there must be a few high spec ex-banker ones going cheap on ebay.

you paid 2 grand for an office chair?
- sputnik20
yep, and it's tax deductible from my business for 5 years...that's great amortization. i end up buying stuff like this in nov/dec of each year to try to get as much out of the IRS as i can :)

Yeah I always thought the Aerons looked like the way to go, but a previous thread I found on here had mixed opnions.

the aerons are amazing. i happen to have a small home office niche in my family room and it looked too "officey" for our room. otherwise it would've really helped my back as well.

I'm looking for a chair where I can read comfortably for hours. Not looking for something heavy, but light where I can bring with me easily in case I move.

Just got my mother one of these. I like it a lot better than my Aeron chair.
