Can anyone help a old codger with some advice about what are the best font management apps to get the modern apple macintosh machine?

I use Font Agent Pro - I'm sure there are better/doper/fresher/cooler ones out there... but it works for me.
http://www.insidersoftware.com/F…- I think thats what I might have on my G5 actually. Thanks for reply Rene.Horp

Looks like they have a good deal right now, Spooky - 50% off.
(ie $40 instead of the normal $80).

Rene, I can't exactly tell you the nature of my new beast. Time was when I knew where I was with a mac. This one is a 'pro' machine, though it looks identical to my aluminium G5 from 2003 (Ives reached his design valhalla and decided to stick with it I guess), it has a variety of things in it called Quad Cores, maybe 4 of those, or 8, who knows, it has 6 jiggabelles of ram - enough I hope for a lowly illustrator, and it has two 500jiggabelle hard desk spinner plates upon which I may rest all manner of documents and fact sheets, as I go about the business of pushing cheap pencils around expensive sheets of paper... a daily act for which I receive no remuneration whatsoever.
To get remuneration I have to cram in short bursts on the super computer, knocking out 'versions' of a piece of bling I did for Selfridges in 2005, changing the logo for that of the client who has asked me for it.
Good times.

I agree with utpoian on this one, try Suitcase Fusion as your font manager http://www.extensis.com/en/produ…

font explorer from your favorite torrent site :)

Linotype FontExplorer X
Works great and it's free. Activates missing fonts in files.

bumping this from the dead
had to update OS, which in turn no longer supported my font management (was using extensis 2 i believe)
anyone got any recommendations these days?
- there was a much newer thread - probably last bumped a few months ago - with some recommendations.Fax_Benson
- I've just started using Fontbase, which is nice, but that's an install on a brand new machine, which feels less daunting than switching.Fax_Benson

I use Fontbase now.
doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but I don't need anything fancy these days and free is a great feature

Was really enjoying RightFont:
BUT needed better syncing between machines, so reverted to the excellent BUT always expensive (every upgrade paid!) Suitcase Fusion:

Once RightFont's "cloud" offerings allow better library management between machines, I'll go back.
: )

FontBase for over 1 year, really works great, you can even add woff files

RightFont does syncing. I use it with Dropbox and it works great between my iMac and MacBook.

Downloading FontBase now...
FontExplorer X Pro is just slowing down my Adobe Apps, specially illustrator because AI Plug-In is not installed!!!
I read FontBase also slows Adobe and support is shit.
Fellow QBN'ers using it, what do you have to say? Thanks grafician for the tip!
- swapped to FontBase recently. Could be better with Adobe but so much lighter and faster than FontExplorer, which had become almost unusable.Fax_Benson
- do you have the paid version? Something similar to smart folders and type foundries?oey_oey

As soon as I opened FontBase I wanted to close it...LOL!
Seriously now, unfortunately the free version is not a valid alternative for me, something I was sort of expecting.
- Damn you're picky
Alright, try this then: https://typefaceapp.…grafician - hahaha! I'll give it a try. that was just the first reaction because I'm years now used to something else. hence the LOL. laughing about myself.oey_oey
