What do you like in typefaces? Meaning, what is in typefaces that you look for/at? Personally, I always first look at certain letters (s, k, g...) in sans serifs, and for the sharpness/curviness in serifs.
Is there a methodology to your fondness of certain typefaces, or is all based on gut feelings, trends, and purpose?

(okay, I'll read over my next thread-post first before hitting 'Broadcast live' to eliminate the astounding amount of missing words).

If it's not Gotham Narrow, I don't want to know.

Gotham Ultra Italic wins for me

I guess what we're trying to say is: use Gotham and delete the rest of your fonts... except your Garamond set

i seem to prefer technical and workhorse looking fonts. something that is understated and just breathes...
- if your font is breathing you might need to halt proceedings and ride the rest of the trip out on the couch.airey

I usually check capital Gs, Qs, Rs and lowercase g's. Those are the most visceral letters for me for some reason. Also how the question mark balances and the quotation marks...
OK, so I'm weird...- No, not weird at all... it's cool to see/know how others 'think'...NotByHand

I get that we all have favorite fonts, but what is it about specific ones that make you like that one over other similar typefaces?
Certain characters, overall uniqueness, compatibility with other typefaces, kerning... all of the above... or something else?

I think it is how simple the typeface is (so that its versatile) and also how much character the typeface has. Also a typeface that is both classic and modern (someone described Avant Garde to me that way and it stuck with me)

Lubalin is a good example. that font has alot of character but is still very functional and simple

for me it's just a feel thing, like food, wine, color, art
