my friend was there and said it was really disappointing

I really enjoyed that Letterman interview even though it was a little weird. And man, he's put on some weight in his face. Looking directly at him, you could almost believe it's someone else. I'd love to see that NYC show.
- He's also 8 years older then he was on his show. And he's probably eating better food now.BK

I've never heard him clearly explain why he left the show. The best I can understand is that he got really uncomfortable making money off of the kind of humor he was doing, or the way in which white boys found the humor entertaining. He never seems to be able to articulate it very clearly.

Why does he look so different? I can't figure it out.
- seemed like he was hitting the weights awfully hard.... and we all age - sometimes we puff up.bulletfactory
- gained weightdrgs
- yeah he gained a lot of weight and muscledbloc

If you're interested in the whole story, this is a great explanation.

Is he one of the funniest comedians of our lifetime? Like top 5? I've been listening to some of his stuff since yesterday and it's just great. His voices crack me up like no other.

do you all understand why he left for a long time?
- Yeah, we're all close friends with him. We probably know him better than he knows himself.********
- 1:45. Listen to him: http://vimeo.com/977…ohhhhhsnap
- One hour and 45 min.ohhhhhsnap

I heard him say a while back that during filming of his show he noticed these high execs (white dudes in suits) at Comedy Central whom he felt laughed at him instead of with him.
- got a sense it was worse than that, like his writing partner and other closer people._niko

His show and comedy styling is a very slippery slope when it comes to race. Was Chapelle himself laughing at black people or with black people?
- I think he was offended that these white dudes were dictating to him the type of skits he should do.Ramanisky2
- after all, they were paying him a cool $50 milRamanisky2
- slippery slope eh? is that what's it's called.ohhhhhsnap
- I think so, most people are only confortable laughing at his black jokes because it comes from a black guy, but they feel conflicted, what crosses the line_niko
- ..conflicted at what crosses the line. It's ok to laugh at yourself, the slippery slope is when is it ok for other people to laugh with you and when is the line crossed where they are laughing at you?_niko
- ... with you and when is the line crossed where they are laughing at you?_niko
- and i'm probably using the term slippery slope in completely the wrong context._niko
