I was just thinking about getting a new tattoo - or rather an old tattoo covered up. Was going to redo my family crest on my shoulder. Guy in town quoted me $300...does that seem reasonable to anyone that's got a clue on this market? Talking about 4inch square black/gray ink...

Totally depends on the artist. The guy I want to to do my work charges $275/hr. He's expensive but the style is completely unique and I respect his design and art skills.
$150/hr is general market rate I think.

Hmmm...I think this guy is solid, but nothing remarkable...but what I have no sucks..some meth head biker did it for me in some shack in upstate NY when I was 19 and I would really like to redo the piece. Standard Irish coat-of-arms thing, but with a tribal kinda feel, if that makes sense..

Ah..the guy's shop has a YouTube video...as you can see, work looks solid if kinda unremarkable..

i want a tattoo by this guy. Amazing styles, his H.R. Giger stuff is crazy. I don't want that though.
