A massive market failure
"The market is in many ways an incredible institution. It allocates resources with an efficiency that no central planning body can match and it easily balances supply and demand. The market has some fundamental weaknesses, however. It does not incorporate into prices the indirect costs of producing goods. It does not value nature's services properly. And it does not respect the sustainable yield thresholds of natural systems. It also favors the near term over the long term, showing little concern for future generations..."
- Be careful, this is a backdoor to more government control. To taxing, selling co2 quotas and banning harmless technologies.rafalski
- Sorry to get political on this thread. It's an interesting article though. Sustainability is just starting to take off.joeth
- The successful companies right now get it. Walmart, Google, Apple, Toyota.joeth

Green Consumerism: Problem, Panacea or Just One of Many Good Ideas?
"Can we imagine an abundant, thriving economy in balance with nature? Can we imagine well-paying jobs with good benefits that contribute to the solutions? Can we imagine healthy schools, hospitals and homes? Can we imagine enjoyable, alternative transportation systems? Can we imagine a way of life that is better precisely because we have embraced a green strategy that encompasses all aspects of society? I believe the answer is yes, not simply because I’m a dreamer, but because I actually see it happening today in thousands of communities, on hundreds of college campuses, inside some of the largest corporations, and in the basements and work-shops of a veritable army of green inventors, designers, and entrepreneurs."
- The Lazy Environmentalist- I see it happening too. But can we have some solutions now? :F

Anyway, you're doing it right. I've just posed side-questions.

"We used to have a country, allegedly, but you couldn't drive across it, because all we had was a bunch of old dirt roads. Somebody, in the name of national security, said, 'Hold on a sec. What if we get invaded on the West Coast, how can we get troops from the East Coast?' So we created an interstate-highway system that connected the country to itself. The minute we did that the economy went through the roof."
"In the name of national security, people in the Pentagon said, 'if we have one big communications tower, and somebody knocks it out, then we're blind, deaf, and dumb. We've got to figure out a way to distribute our information system'. So they came up with the idea of the information super-highway. The minute we connected the country to itself, the economy went through the roof. Let's do it again. But this time, instead of connecting the country to itself to move bodies and vehicles or data around, let's connect the country to itself so we can move clean-energy electrons around. Then you've got the strongest economy in the world."

Let's get to the facts. What's your common WEG spending per person/month where you live? WEG = water, electricity and gas.
My bill in a month in an household of 1:
10€ for tap-water
25€ for electricity
20€ for gas

women could use a cucumber instead of a plastic dildo. that would be biodegradable.

Brita is good in countries like UK or most continental Europe. In most of the US and some European countries like Ireland, tap water is still poisoned with fluoride, which is simply put, toxic.
"Eco" light bulbs are another great thing: they contain mercury, they are high frequency strobes, produce light of unnatural temperature and they are electromagnetic pollutants. Their bad effect oh human organism are being reported.
http://www.globaltv.com/globaltv…My advice is don't take everything under a blanket "eco" label for granted or we'll be all fucked.
BTW, classic bulbs are being banned in fascist countries, ie. in EU by 2012.

And of course, this video is a must see...

Yeah Meeklo brings up a good point.
According to US standards of "natural" and "organic", can be loose in its certification. Most companies are jumping on the band wagon of trying to be eco-friendly when their products are still not.
This is a bigger picture beyond "eco-products" it should become your lifestyle of carrying a responsibility to take care of this earth. Buying local food, reusable bags, bottles, watch what you put down your sink, etc.etc.etc... the list goes on...
Most of the time people don't know these things because they aren't educated in it.
