wow nice suggestions, thanks everyone.
The newsletter is for a non-profit catholic organization and the newsletter is circulated within a pretty small but consistent community.
I'm a new volunteer here and trying make it look less like a bulletin you might pick up at a local church. The organization is actually quite established and does a lot of good work, and I want that to be reflected in all of its publications.Because I have Franklin Gothic, I'm beginning with that, but I think I'd really like to get my hands on that National or Whitney.
Thanks again for the suggestions everyone!

Can't go wrong with Helvetica Neue. Franklin or Whitney are clean too...

Fontshop / FontFont always creates very complete typefaces, ideal for many languages.

i like that.

It's difficult suggesting something without knowing what it is for, and what your style looks like.
As far as a sans serif that's easily legible, maybe FF Netto could be an idea.

- Well, you can't go wrong with Akkurat of course.NotByHand

No. Minion can go small, with multiple weights and serifs.

- +1, both are solid choices with a TON of glyphs.gramme

the nature of the work / project would help?

Myriad Pro.... Duh. I would say Helvetica Neue but someone already did.

ideally you should look at a typeface that supports the 6 languages.

Don't use Apex, it's a poorly drawn typeface. The S is nasty, the heavier weights clog up. It's kind of like a poor man's Cecilia.
Helvetica Neue, Univers or Gotham will have all the glyphs you need, and all are well-drawn, thoughtfully considered faces.
- S is nasty has a ring to it.Imposeum
- Yep, Apex sucks. My grandmother could draw a better face, and she's dead.GetRefresh
- LOL at poor man's Caecilia!duckofrubber

- love apex serifWeLoveNoise
- Apex Serif is very nicefodcj
- Apex is crap, that S is horrible. Also, Apex clogs in the heavier weights, esp. the slab serif. The g looks like it's about to have an explosive bowel movement.gramme
- explosive fit of diarrhea. Overall it just appears amateurish.gramme
- U.G.L.Y. You ain't got no aliby, you're ugly!mistermik
- Not really a fan of Apex. I try to use it every now and again but give up pretty quickly. I agree with Gramme, it's just not very well drawn.5timuli
- well drawn.5timuli

I'm looking for a typeface with a variety of weights that are very legible at small point sizes.
I'm designing for a small newsletter (A4 size, 4-6 pages front and back) that will be translated from English into Spanish, French, German, Portugese, and Italian.
Therefore, I also need the typeface to have all the necessary glyphs for these languages.
Preferably looking for a sans serif face, but suggestions for an accompanying serif would be also appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
