DUDE! wtf man? You can't let a little injury or two stop you from riding. I feelz ya though - I seem to break ALOT of bones and everything else out there - i don't think i could give it up though. I currently have a broken collarbone and can't wait to get back on the mountain!!

I don't understand how people injure themselves snowboarding. skiing, sure, your legs can twist around. but snowboarding if you fall you fall in one direction and in soft snow. what gives?

You're doing it wrong! JK.
I had a broken pelvis with external halo and a compound leg fracture from a bike accident (never try and stop a van going 50mph with a road bike) years ago and I still snowboard 10+ times a year.
No parks and/or huge gaps like I did when I was a kid but I was never that great doing that anyway. Now it's only steeps and deeps and wide turns. Get back on the sled when you can, you have it in your blood!

ew i'm so sorry - sounds (and looks) painful
worst I did growing up with flip over the handle bars of my bike and break my right wrist on a diagonal. they had to wait 3 days for the swelling to go down before they could set it and put pins in my wrist for 3 months - needless to say, i don't remember those three days

I went snowboarding once and got seriously worked. That was the only time I went. I thought since I was good at skateboarding it would be no problem. I was wrong.
Man I wish I could go skateboarding ) :

I'm heading out to CO Feb 28 - March 7 for our annual ski trip. the group that goes is split pretty evenly btwn snowboarders and skiers. Personally, even though I'm a skater, I ski. I thought about trying snowboarding this year, but it's just too damn much fun getting down the mountain on my feet rather than being sore from trying to learn a new technique, falling and being frustrated all day. Maybe I'll still give it a go.
- ...but - sorry to hear about your injury - don't quit! just ease up some.bulletfactory

I'm planning a trip to CO this winter and it will be my first time riding there since 2000. used to go every January in college. I was pretty good from more than 15 yrs of skateboarding but nothing really intense. I could hang with my skier friends pretty well on blacks mist of the time.
But now 8 years later, I realize I better get my ass in shape, because serious injury or lack of enjoyment from getting exhausted would be awful.
Sorry to hear about your injury. I absolutely love snowboarding, best thing I've ever gotten to do in life.

exactly how did you do this?

no no, come on now. no reason to rethink your decisions to go snowboarding. I just have shiite luck. It's all on me. I wasn't doing anything nuts this time (when I broke my back I was riding rather aggressively) I just had an accident.
- im still going for it...only live once. heal quickly though, being injured is the worst.svenreed

That sounds excruciating, a long long long rehab awaits if you EVER consider getting back on the board... and if you do you'd be taking it easy for the rest of days...
Rest, heal, renew.

Damn, that truly sucks man. Especially since you just recovered from an earlier injury which, based on your description, sounded extremely traumatic.
I've been down a similar road and I'm reminded of it by the metal parts in my leg.
Feel better, heal fast and take it easy.

My friend crashed on huge big gap and his knee hit him in the face shattering his cheek-bone. After re-constructive surgery on his face he decided to quit. I can't blame him. I guess it's hard for me to understand since I've never been badly hurt.
