I managed to get hemmed into a police line yesterday at Westminster whilst a "Free Palestine" march went by.
Can't say I understand what these protests are meant to achieve. Do they want Gordon Brown to do a jig?
On a side note - I never noticed how short the majority of police officers are. Must be a Napoleon thing.

Just went down high street ken - as we were leaving I tooted the car horn you know to show support for the protesters and the police didn't like it -- 5 mins down the road we got surrounded by 3 flashing police cars who said our car was on a "stolen car" database!
After checking their records they apologised, it's intimidating tho...

U.S. uses Israel as a proxy to dominate the Mid East. This is completely in addition to the religious/ ethnic conflict there. But nonetheless things would look very different without the U.S. support, and it is not just because they love Israel, it is for strategic reasons.
Makes you wonder if Iraq invasion was partly because the U.S is worried about Israel's long term viability, they needed another satellite in the region.

I view it as a bit more white/ brown racism than anything to do with Jews. Imagine if the situation was reversed, with a powerful Arab state oppressing a group of white settlers, killing their women and children in air raids etc, and I think you would see people view it very differently.
