So is the Barolo. The Amarones and the Barolo are supposed to last for quite a while in storage. You have a pretty nice collection there.

that's true a nice collection. all of them look good... need some pasta and red wine now!

If you like the style of the Barolo and Amarone, but are interested in regions other than Italy, I would strongly recommend Rhone wines from France. Try a 30$ - 45$ Chateauneuf-du-pape. Great with red meats. Definately a wine to treat yourself to.

I've never actually drank a bottle I've purchased. It all started with that bottle of Tommasi Amarone about 4 years ago.
I think Ill cry when I actually open one up

ok well, if you are collecting, find a nice priced 2005 Bordeaux. They are very sought after and they will increase in value as you save it.
- 2004? no?imnotadesigner
- only if its good. !!!!!!

it depeneds on weather its new world or old world wine. new world wine is made to be nailed early on in its life but . old world trends to age better. all wine, terroir, cilmate, counrty, style, grape, is different.
shit hold on i could go on all day ummm
rule of thumb
drink it and find out!!!

Have any of you ever come home to find a friend or someone has opened a bottle you were saving. My god, I had this uncle my father refused to talk to for years because he once opened a bottle without permission. Months back, a friend of mine (who just started AA) opened a 1999 Cabernet that I wanted to keep while I was in the other room unawares. I never realized I'd still be so angry about this.
I kind of hope I can readdress this when she hits that step where you start telling everyone how shitty you used to be.

the higher percentage of alcohol the longer it keeps. so a 14% wine will last considerably longer then a 12% wine.

where you store the wine will also have a major effect, if you have it in the kitchen the fluctuation in temperature will cause problems, a damp cellar is no good either

I love wine. Keeping it in a cellar would never work for me though - I can get through about 10 bottles a week.
