Yay – let's keep the money artillery well stocked, and firing on all fronts! It's FREE money, after all. Fiscal responsibility, personal accountability, and national solvency be damned.
My own debts are onerous enough, and I've kept them, through discipline and reason, to a minimum. I'm not at all interested in helping you with yours because you didn't do the same.
De Tocqueville was dead-on right.

I am all for it, why not, what a way to stimulate the economy from the bottom up , instant relief , people can have more pocket cash, save , or invest.
We see big business get a hand out of record proportions and everyone is ok with that, I say everyone because there is no tanks being mobilized or riots or heck even persistent demonstrations about this , so while I know there are people against he Financial Bail out, they don't care that much about it to DO something about it. So why not get in on the action .... this is doing something about it

just paid $4100 last week... and that wasn't even half of what i've got left (and this is without interest).
yeah, i could use a bailout.

here you go, studentsbailout.com who's down?

True this would suck for people that have paid back their loans but those who have been in the workforce long enough to do that have better paying jobs than a person just entering the workforce anyway.
It is basically the best investment, if you have to bail someone out you might as well do it for:
1.Some one smart enough to use the money (educated)
2.someone who could use a jump in life to get ahead
3.someone who is going to be paying for this bailout for the rest of their lives anyway.who would you rather give it to, Banks, CEOs or people making their first steps into the workforce?
Also post secondary education is free in a lot of countries anyway, so the idea is not that far out there.

this isn't going to happen. ever. you know why? because the government isn't going to receive any kind of Kick Backs or underhanded discounts from us or our lending services if they give us a bailout. the government only bails out companies that it can profit from when the shit is done hitting the fan.

We have a new president that promised CHANGE right? And if you watched he's speech, he asked us to fight and work together.
It might not work, but hey, at least we can try...

I would be happy to have my loans cut in half so they don't feel so overwhelming.
- designbot0
I agree it does sound nice on the surface...I would love to see my and my wife's loans gone. But I don't want money from my own Government...money that I will invetiably be paying back in inflation and taxes anyway. Since we all know the only thing the government has right now is lots of accumulated debt.

yep. I borrowed the money, I promised to pay it back. It's the path I chose, why should anyone have to bail me out?
If nothing else, what this effort will succeed in doing is perpetuating a stereotype that our generation is a pampered bunch of selfish assholes who feel entitled to anything and everything without having to work, sweat or otherwise earn our positions in the world of grown-ups. Despite reality.- the last generation went to university for $500 a year. books cost more than that now!eryx

haha i love theese naiv posts on the fb page. "this is a great idea"
like anyone would not like have the goverment slice 75% of shit they loaned for whatever reason. rofl

I pay about $600 a month on school loans. It's tough but it builds character. Easier isn't always better. There's never enough, but yeah, college costs are ridiculous.
- wow! i am getting away with on 78.00 per month and i went to a private school._salisae_
- wtf! who did you slee with?? ;)OSFA
- yeah, i went to out of state private art school.richardkark
