I guess my question is, if this work was done by someone more famous, would we talking like this?

A faddy student project styled type face?, I don't think it would have raised much of an eye brow JSK
- ********0
Regardless of if its student work or not, the work was inspired and almost close to the original. The idea came from 100kr and it was used by the other guy.
Just because its crap (on both ends), doesnt make it any less of a rip then anything else.
- fair point, but it wont be the first and certainly not the last!! so who cares!uncle_helv

the guy was inspired by it, he didn't just take 100kr's typeface and use it. in fact i think the inspired one did a better job at it. Verdict: Inspired Batesole

I laughed. I cried. I fell down.

Sorta like a "Diet Batesole".

i dont think this idea came from 100kr. ive seen this style used in children books from the 70s. the use of a bias print in conjuction with a type face isnt anything new and for him/ her to claim it is theirs and seeing others using what is allready out there well... you are all rippers!!! continue on... and claim all of it is yours...
meh...

When someone says, inspired / homage to other's work and see clear closeness in work outputted, I dont see it as either.
I always think that, inspired / homage is more stylistic alignment and this is more then stylistic. The font structure is pretty much the same. The patterning is close but made more consistent organization.
If someone did not tell me that it was done by two different people, I would have thought they are done by the same person.

"fair point, but it wont be the first and certainly not the last!! so who cares!
– uncle_helv"Indeed, I have been very guilty of "inspired" work and I think most of us have. The reason I raise the question is because we make our livelihood in making something "creative" more or less. Something new and interesting.
When we cease to take ownership to our own work, it ceases to become creative nor that there is a drive to be so. We all accept that we sort of rip but if we stopped and thought about not doing such thing, maybe there will be less crap out there.
But, it is impossible to look at something and be unconsciously inspired. And creating isolated environment does not help either.
The stylistic trend is always results of "inspired"
Know whats out there and try not to do the same, I guess.

I think it is different enough not to be a rip.
At the same time, I can see why the original designer felt that way.
Also at the same time, I hope this style doesn't begin to spread;-)

85% of designers are unoriginal, unthinking, barely literate, reality TV watching idiots. Let's not set the bar too high ok.
- ********0
I would say 99% of designers. Since there are only handful of good designers out there.
