Indeed, I have been very guilty of "inspired" work and I think most of us have. The reason I raise the question is because we make our livelihood in making something "creative" more or less. Something new and interesting.

When we cease to take ownership to our own work, it ceases to become creative nor that there is a drive to be so. We all accept that we sort of rip but if we stopped and thought about not doing such thing, maybe there will be less crap out there.

But, it is impossible to look at something and be unconsciously inspired. And creating isolated environment does not help either.

The stylistic trend is always results of "inspired"
Know whats out there and try not to do the same, I guess.
