Hi all,
Just wondering if people here have come across good examples of white space in web design, preferable sites that still retain a good amount of content, the super minimalistic sites are easier of course.
I find it easier to sell the benefits of creative white space in print, but not online. Anyone else had this problem, I personally find it an uphill battles selling the benefits of white space, maybe a need to refine my argument a little more :)

Nope. None here.
http://www.ge.com/products_servi… perhaps.- It would have been better with the bg all white... I bet the original mocks had it all white but lost out in a battle.pylon

Yeah I think the web is overall abusing negative space...

there's no such thing as white space for clients. only wasted space.

- not bad, a lot of what I would class as secondary white space. Quite clever, the center content, the less text there is on some articles, the better the overall balance. So the white space is dynamic here, if all text was to a similar length to the Chloe Early, wouldn't be so effective. This is most likely secondary in QBN priorities, but does create a nice contrast nevertheless.leewilson78

how true, I'm started to get better on the benefits of white space with clients. Funny, I feel that I need to educate them before they will trust what I recommend, pain in the arse, lot of wasted time, suppose the same is true for a lot of design disciplines though.

Every pixel of functional web design should be able to function as a) a button b) an advertisement or c) both

A double whammy. Site and arguments.
- seen that a while ago, I personally would list ALA as the best example, love the ALA site, just not as much 'active' white space, more leftoverleewilson78
