Thinking about picking up the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8.
I have looked around and read pretty good things about it.
I was just wondering if anyone here has it or has used it, and what you think about it.Worth it? Have any sample shots with it?

As said, 24-70. Lenses are an investment so i suggest saving for it is you cant buy right now.

24-70 is brilliant on a full frame body, but probably wont be wide enough on a crop body. If there is a chance you might go full frame in the future I would probably get a 16-35L or 17-40L for your crop body, then you can use them as ultra wides if you upgrade.
I use my 17-40 on my 30D a fair bit and 24-70 on my 5D.

Good point actually 24-70 really owns to it potential at fullframe but as lens, I would still consider it since it will be a better investment in the long run.
- true and you could always grab a 10-22 for your landscape/interiors etcslappy

Anybody selling 17-40?..
I actually have the 17-55/2.8 IS for sale, but the price would be euro-ish. I have no opinion though, just bought it as a part of a big sell-out and don't have a crop body. I'm tempted to get a 20D on a sale downstairs.

i would be using it on a 450d
- 1.6 crop factor. So a 17-55mm would effectively be like using a 27-88mm on a FF body.slappy

Planning on upgrading later on? Might save some money if you can foresee your future needs a bit.
- Don't think so, got the 450 not too long ago. Think the 17-40L would be a better bet?duckseason
- 17-40 is cheaper, weather sealed and the barrel does not extend when zooming meaning less dust will get in than the 17-55.slappy
- And you can keep the 17-40 if you end up going full frame like I did. Excellent value for money lens.slappy
