Foreclosure of a Dream

Strangely relevant Megadeth video from 1992 – one of my fave songs of theirs.
Never understood the lyrics back then as I was only ten years old. Used to fucking love these guys.
Rise so high, yet so far to fall.
A plan of dignity and balance for all.
Political breakthrough, euphorias high.
More borrowed money, more borrowed time.
Backed in a corner, caught up in the race.
Means to an end ended in disgrace.
Perspective is lost in the spirit of the chase./chorus/
Foreclosure of a dream,
Those visions never seen,
Until all is lost,
Personal holocaust.
Foreclosure of a dream.Barren land that once filled a need,
Are worthless now, dead without a deed.
Slipping away from an iron grip,
Natures scales are forced to tip,
The heartland cries, loss of all pride.
To leave aint believing, so try and be tried.
Insufficient funds, insanity and suicide./chorus/
Now with new hope some will be proud.
This is no hoax, no one pushed out.
Receive a reprieve and be a pioneer.
Break new ground of a new frontier.
New ideas will surely get by.
No deed, or dividend. some may ask why?
Youll find the solution, the answers in the sky.Rise so high, yet so far to fall.
A plan of dignity and balance for all.
Political breakthrough, euphorias high.
More borrowed money, more borrowed time.

yes, and
Isn't alluminum the metal used in tin foil hats?
I smell a conspiracy.

Megadeth did some sick videos back in the day

I was going to ost the Megadeth video if it wasn't already posted. Too bad they suck live.

This album was for Megadeth what the 'Black' album was for Metallica. For some, the beginning of accessibility, for me, beginning of the great 'puss out.'
Love "Rust in Peace" though.

They also sang 'Symphony of Destruction', but I'm guessing you don't want to see that happen for your own good.

harlequino put it perfectly. Megadeth was my favorite bad in high school. My first two concerts were Judas Priest with Megadeth and then Megadeth with Stone Temple Pilots.
When Countdown to Extinction came out i was so underwhelmed, but didn't want to admit it. There are great songs on there like "Skin of My Teeth", the title track, "This Was My Life", and "Ashes in Your Mouth", so i kept the faith.
But then came Youthanasia, and i was done. i wanted to blame Friedman's progressive influence for their watering down, but in retrospect, i think it was all Dave.

Well, we were all on the train of consequences.

My brother met them all on the Youthanasia tour at Leeds town & country club. I won a backstage pass for him and was too young to go.
So they met them all and Dave Mustaine shook their hands with surgical gloves on. That's so un-rock and roll it's upseting. At this point I downed my guitar and bought turntables.
It's YOUR fault Mustaine, and yours alone.
- hehe, now that's fucked up.Jnr_Madison
- I mean, turntables?Jnr_Madison
- j/k, he sounds mental, heard a few stories myself.Jnr_Madison

Love how Nick Menza used to be on stage in cycling shorts..

I remember Mustaine being very loud on the digital recording topic, back when everyone was migrating to digital from analog. He was calling anyone who liked analog better "losers," which I thought was funny, and even funnier that he was so angry. I always thought he must be a real inflexible dude to be around.

snap!

So Far, So Good...So What was my first Megadeth album, dubbed by a friend of mine. It was what opened the door to metal for me, eventually getting into Anthrax, Pantera, etc.
i kind of see that as a ideological middle ground in their career. It was less faux-Satanic than Peace Sells but less political than Rust in Peace.
Up unitl, but excluding, Countdown, there were more songs on each album that i loved than there were that i didn't like so much. There were a few stinkers on Countdown (Psychotron, High Speed Dirt, Captive Honor)- i could babble on all day about this band, so stop me anytimelocustsloth

This was one of my favorite songs. dave says this is a song about Cliff Burton's death and his feelings about it, but i always thought that this was like a letter to God (because i was in a very anti-God place at that time)
And yes, i know it's just a pic of the album, but the videos available for this song are so terrible i couldn't bear to post them
