@meeklo - well that's great for apple but total shite for us. as if apple hardware hasn't ALWAYS and FOREVER been extremely overpriced - NOW they've got the numbers and the demand so retail prices will sky rocket monthly.
at least now apple won't be able to hide behind Microsoft as the conglomerate monster, they ARE the monster.

i looked into a refurb 17" 256 MBP. Decent price - £1300, but then apple care is 279! I can get the new 15" top spec with apple care[£58] for 1700, not sure what to do really. The latter deal is through apple education.

refurbs are just like new.
Do you get applecare for one year to begin with anyway then? Thing is I get the educational one for £58 / three years. Has to be bought at the time I think.
