The original stuff wasn't really that great. It was clean and simple.

the previous identity looked too corporate, this new one I have seen in the above animation is great, the logo suggests variety and life an improvement I think.

i agree its ugly but uk is all about oversized helvetica and has been since late 90s. maybe its time to let go. not in favour of this but atleast take some steps further =)

The type in the new logo needs a lot of refinement, it has no finesse. Compare it to the other main channels and it doesn't stand up that well.(not that itv is particularly good).
The animation work is slick but there are too many styles of animation going on, there's not really an ownable idea that I can see. Nothing to do with it being 5.- I think that is part of the point, the circle acts a container for the rich media they want to broadcast.chossy
