One of the reasons I joined here in the first place was because they felt so dead... it's been a long time since I looked at any WM cartoons though, nice reminder :D

I don't think they've updated since 2002 (the site design). I find there is too much happening and not enough solid content.
- They updated it a couple year ago, minor update but took away some of the sharp pixelies...ismith

I'm afraid there was never anything to read up in k10k. Except some stupid interviews.

I liked Pixel Surgeon's reviews, but I never really go to any other site anymore for news. Seems like they are rarely updated.

Funny I was going to post exactly the same message the other day. I was looking at k10k and wondering if I was missing something. Why doesn't mschimdt post there anymore (last post over a year ago).
I don't want it to have had it's day but I fear it has.
I go there every now and again, just for the odd links, but alas not as often as I used to.

I read remotely via my rss reader:
News and wulffmorgenthaler.
Once in a while i type that address just because i'm nostalgic

Its weird how things are only fleetingly good for a short while now before the world moves on and leaves them behind for new heroes.

I feel strangely sad, like a bit of history is slipping away. Any good new places to visit? other than here of course.

I think that the excitment of sharing and communicating over the internet is beginning to fade now. It sounds utterly impossible to think that we may not carry on, but it has a paralell with the CB radio community that sprang up in the 80's. It seemed utterly impossible at the time (when they legalised FM and there was a nationwide craze for CB Radio) that it wouldn't last, It was counterculture cool, it meant you didn't have to pay to use BT telephones... like the Skype of its day... and the hardware and infrastrcuture was in place because everyone had invested in either a home rig, a car rig, or a handheld.
After yapping manically for four years, the whole thing just died almost overnigh, due to lack of anything more to say.
I think that's why these forum sites are all dying out now.

I also think sites like this without any public forum lack life. They end up looking a bit like they are preaching.

seems like we are a bunch of stranded nostalgic survivors then?

words are no longer necessary, imageboards are the current trend. soon we'll be back to just flashing lights in a new code that will display the images in our head.

I know its a bannable offense to suggest it, but don't you get the impression that there are less and less people coming here as time goes by as well?
- migy0
hmm possibly. It does slow down depending on the time of day. Maybe there is something new out there that nobody has told us about.

I used to check the K everyday, for me it was really the first design portal I ever got into, I loved the design of their site, i loved the content too, but they seemed to be chipped away by the competition over the years, and now it feels old and dated... I think the lack of public forum was really the killer blow, it doesn't feel like there's a reason to go there anymore.

they never did recover from that massive hiatus
