Interesting read.
http://www.politico.com/story/20…
Quick excerpts:
"U.S. ethics laws weren’t written to account for a commander in chief with such far-reaching interests. Unlike most other federal officials, presidents and vice presidents aren’t subject to conflict-of-interest prohibitions. Americans will have to trust Trump or Clinton to do the right thing, since neither would be bound by law."
"There are many potential minefields for each candidate: Trump has made real estate deals in the Middle East, for instance, and his businesses have taken out hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from Deutsche Bank, a German institution linked to several investigations in the United States. The Clinton Foundation, meanwhile, has accepted money from a string of governments whose interests don’t always align with those of the United States, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar."
Much more in the article!
- Great article.IRNlun6
- Although I'd say the conflict is greater with Clinton because the wealth was accumulated as a direct result of her and her husbands political careers.IRNlun6
- Well, the real question is, "which candidate is most likely to abuse their role as president for personal gain?"********
- Moreover, I would argue that the Clinton Foundation's "wealth" does not belong to the Clintons. It's a non-profit. The money flows to development projects.********
- Whereas Donald's company is a for-profit private firm that will certainly benefit him and his family during and after his potential presidency.********
- Also, the Clintons have addressed this conflict to some degree (although not in enough detail to satisfy me). It's widely speculated that the Foundation will********
- ...essentially cease to exist if Hillary is elected, in order to avoid conflicts. It's unfair that no one would ask Trump to shut down his company if elected.********
- (When I say "unfair" what I mean is that it's a bit unfair to compare a personal private company to a non-profit when discussing conflict potential.)********
- is that really a question anyone cant answer in like 10 seconds?yurimon
- i'm taking my upvote away.yurimon
- Sigh. Yurimon the simpleton, in with his two cents.********
- article post was cool, but that answer to the question, i think you know deep inside nb..yurimon
- Fair points nb. Non-profit is a bit of misnomer though because most keep an extraordinary amount for expenses vs actual donations.IRNlun6
- Clinton foundation is no exception but technically it should be a simpler task for them to break ties vs Trumps many business endeavors.IRNlun6
- CharityWatch:
https://www.charityw…******** - The Clinton Foundation is probably one of the best organizations. As an operating foundation, they do a lot of the ground work themselves.********
- So it's very easy for pundits to accuse them of only gaving 15% of revenue to grants. But that's ignoring entirely how the Clinton Foundation works.********
- *giving********
- Also +1 to IRNIun6 for the pleasant debate! I respect your point of view!********
- Clinton being a former lawyer and a politician at the highest level, I'd be more surprised if audits showed fraud or misappropriation.IRNlun6
- I don't doubt their charity does some good. The biggest questions seem to be why/where donations come from(ie. Arab Monarchies)IRNlun6
- I appreciate debating with you as well nb.IRNlun6
- big ups to nb for the quality post********

A question for all the Bernie supporters. Now Clinton is the official nominee, is there any plan to curb the anti Hillary vibe so she has a chance of winning over Trump? I'm not being sarcastic but it feels like the biggest threat to the democrats is themselves. I can't vote in this country and even if i could i don't know if i'd fully understand the warring within each party.
- This happens every election, in both parties. Sure, many Bernie supporters are really anti-Hillary and might stay home, but most will vote Hillary.********
- one of the reasons for going a person going hillery after bernie is because that individual is not morally sound in the first place. it wasnt much about realyurimon
- moral principles in the first place. to go opposite your own views after all those months you hung in there waiting for the results. to go opposite on a dimeyurimon
- just says how fake you are masked by political correctness. and we all know california was stolen from bernie flat out.yurimon

Found this kind of interesting since people were talking about the idea of listening to experts rather than politicians.

Team Trump sent out an "emergency" email asking for donations.
"...I'll fund my own campaign, I'd love to do that... but we have to have help. Life is like a two way street, right?" Trump said. "Otherwise I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. I'll just keep funding my own campaign. I'm ok with that. That's the easy way. I mean for me, that's the easy way. But, hopefully I can continue to go the way we're going, and this weekend we raised a lot of money. We've raised a lot of money for the Republican Party. We'll keep doing it, because we do have tremendous support within the party that I can tell you."
HAHA this guy is so rich that he finds it easier to just fund it all himself, so he'd rather do that, but also he doesn't want to, even though that's easier for him.
- How does a self respecting human being listen to this guy and say: "yea, I hear that man. This guy is alright, I relate to what he's saying" Blows my mindsofakingback
- same with hildawg. one is outwardly looney the other tries to act normal when inwardly batcrazy.yurimon
- yea, she's full of shit too. But still, that excuses people from ignoring this nut job? Like whats the thought process here: he's on my side so I gotta agree...sofakingback
- with his ideas." Republican or Democrat we have two very shitty candidates... but whats more disturbing is how people follow these guys out of what???sofakingback
- well everyone brought it on themselves, each generation contributing to the insanity.yurimon
- ego??? "oh Im not wrong, they're wrong. yea build the wall!" Election or no election, Right or Left, this dude is crazy. Why is that so hard to see?sofakingback
- Then again, this is the country that worships the kardashians. what can you expect? meh.sofakingback
- I think you're right, all that stupid: "MURICA! FUCK YEA!!!" bullshit went from joke, to reality... and now we here. lolsofakingback
- lol, fuck yeah sofaking, hillary will win and america will become the paradise it's always beenGeorgesII
- No way Trump is liquid enough to fund his own campaign. May need to sell a couple of buildings first.BusterBoy
- So true. He communicates at such a poor level it's frightening anyone would consider him a viable candidate.monospaced
- He talks like Palin. So many words...when you analyse closely the sentences mean jack shit.BusterBoy

no really, the most one sided "documentary" ever.******** - is there anything in there you thought was not true? would be cool to know.yurimon
- Written, produced & directed by Martin Durkin. A guy who has a record of distorting and misrepresenting facts.uan
- @yuri: he forgot to tell you the other side of the the truth. i.e. about switzerland's wealth: 40% of it belongs to less than 1% of the population.uan
- and also ask yourself how come that a small country like switzerland is the headquarters of at least 5 of the topten companies worldwide.uan
- and I'm not necessarily pro EU btw, just pointing out this doc has a hidden agenda.uan
- Yurinal never lets the truth get in the way of a good story.utopian
- you have to admit that from everything that is great, we are capable of, that eu is utter sheyt not only as an idea but governance.yurimon

- can't understand sht about this just that yuri is an expert on eupol :D geez. whatevs.********
- I had a weird dejavu watching this. entire vid sounds like that it's based on the nationalist rhetoric of the right-sided central european politicians.********
- I'm asking. whats so good about being in the EU? do people just like to increase their overhead and feed bureaucracy?yurimon

A group of radical Islamists attacked a listening party in Istanbul during a Radiohead listening party.
The men reportedly stormed the record store and used pipes to violently beat fans running away from the venue for drinking alcohol during the holy month of Ramadan.
- Or does this belong in the religion thread? Whatever, it's fine here.********
- problem with the article. "Radical" should be replaced with "moderate".yurimon
- yuritroll activated.fadein11
- not trolling its a reality, what you think is radical by your standards is actually moderate by their own standards.yurimon

- all profiling includes race. Its a single variable as part of the whole. that is how things are. trump knows how to push peoples buttons. if he said only profil********
- e on race i might be concerned. But it sounds like he is simply calling for a non PC common sense approach...possibly... sucks at speaking********
- but really i dont think he believes anything he says. he just know what gives him free publicity like a beyonce or kardashian********
- he probably need to be vague enough to get people like you to hate him on a worst case basis and me to defend him on a best case basis. stupid shit********
- ^ yeah, its kinda getting repetitively annoying. maybe for trump haters it still fuels their desires somehow.yurimon
- Based on the quotes in this article, doesn't look like he mentioned race at all.IRNlun6
- Profiling is not about point out racial characteristics but more about reading body language. Israelis use it in airport security and it's very effective.IRNlun6
- Much more effective than having hundreds of people wait in line. I'm surprised the TSA hasn't realized what an easy target that presents.IRNlun6

Geez, chill out, everybody!
Sandford told officers he had been planning an assassination for about a year and was convinced he would die in the attempt. He said he also reserved a ticket for a Trump rally in Phoenix, scheduled for later in the day, as a backup.
He told authorities that he went to the Battlefield Vegas shooting range the day before the rally and fired 20 rounds from a 9mm Glock pistol to learn how to use it. Police detectives who visited the range spoke with an employee who confirmed that he provided Sandford shooting lessons, according to the complaint.

The US gov really shouldn't play the role of venture capitalists.
The Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition in Los Angeles will receive $70 million from the federal government to establish the ninth of 15 "manufacturing hubs" that President Barack Obama wants set up across the country.
- The US gov has always played the role of venture capitalists i.e. Big Oil, Agriculture, Pharma, Wall Street, Energy, Farming, Auto, Chemical, Manufacturing, etcutopian
- It's called Corporatism!
https://en.wikipedia…
Welfare for the Wealthyutopian - Yes and it shouldn't be that way. The problem is there is always one group preaching the benefits of such corporatism wether railroads, healthcare, etc..********
- And people decide to choose hypocrisy if the corporatism fits into their world views.********
