    Santorum Wins Iowa
But the full count might never be complete.
    http://www.humanevents.com/artic…

Not that it matters, straw poll BS.

    -------------

The Des Moines Register calls this “a tie for the ages.” I can think of some other, more colorful phrases to describe it.

There are too many holes in the certified totals from the Iowa caucuses to know for certain who won, but Rick Santorum wound up with a 34-vote advantage.

Results from eight precincts are missing — any of which could hold an advantage for Mitt Romney — and will never be recovered and certified, Republican Party of Iowa officials told The Des Moines Register on Wednesday.

GOP officials discovered inaccuracies in 131 precincts, although not all the changes affected the two leaders. Changes in one precinct alone shifted the vote by 50 — a margin greater than the certified tally.

The certified numbers: 29,839 for Santorum and 29,805 for Romney. The turnout: 121,503.

So fifteen days later, Iowa authorities still can’t count 121,503 votes accurately, but they’re kinda thinking maybe that Santorum fellow ended up 34 votes ahead

    • I can't believe Iowans fell for Santorum, he relates to no one but far righties. Never going to work with Mod's / Ind

"Subsequent analysis suggests that Keystone's job-creating potential is more modest. The U.S. State Department calculated last year that the underground pipeline would add 5,000 to 6,000 U.S. jobs. One independent review of Keystone puts that number even lower, with the Cornell University Global Labor Institute finding that the pipeline would add only 500 to 1,400 temporary construction jobs. The authors of the September report also said that much of the new employment stemming from Keystone would be outside the U.S.

Transcanada itself cast doubt on its employment forecast when a vice president for the company told CNN last fall that the 20,000 jobs Keystone would create were temporary and that the project would likely yield only "hundreds" of permanent positions.

Another reason for the discrepancy appears to stem from what that 20,000 figure really means. As Transcanada has conceded, its estimate counted up "job years" spent on the project, not jobs. In other words, the company was counting a single construction worker who worked for two years on Keystone as two jobs, lending fuel to critics who said advocates of the pipeline were overstating its benefits."

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-5051…

Nixing KeystoneXL, is nothing more than a forced move, created by the Republicans. Obama wasn't against the pipeline until the Repubs forced him to make a decision. Those who made that stipulation don't give a rats ass about the 6000 jobs that were to be created. They knew he wouldn't shorten his timeline, so they knew he would say no, rather than risk a possible ecological disaster, and then they can trump up this job-hater bullshit.

FUCKING FIRE THEM ALL* AND START OVER!

Obama's Keystone Denial Prompts Canada to Look to China Sales

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/ar…

President Barack Obama's decision yesterday to reject a permit for TransCanada Corp.'s Keystone XL oil pipeline may prompt Canada to turn to China for oil exports.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper, in a telephone call yesterday, told Obama "Canada will continue to work to diversify its energy exports," according to details provided by Harper's office. Canadian Natural Resource Minister Joe Oliver said relying less on the U.S. would help strengthen the country's "financial security."

The "decision by the Obama administration underlines the importance of diversifying and expanding our markets, including the growing Asian market," Oliver told reporters in Ottawa.

Currently, 99 percent of Canada's crude exports go to the U.S., a figure that Harper wants to reduce in his bid to make Canada a "superpower" in global energy markets.

    • Sounds like diversifying was already in the works, KXL decision just upped the timeline.locustsloth

Obama officials concede his new defense strategy increases war risk

    http://www.worldnewstribune.com/…

President Obama hailed the strategy as a “smart, strategic set of priorities” that were formulated based on the need to renew American fiscal strength with smaller conventional ground forces and an overall leaner military.

However, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said the new strategy unquestionably increases risks to U.S. national security interests.

Over a period of mere hours, the roller-coaster Republican race was shaken by a cascade of events: An explosive ABC interview with Newt Gingrich’s second wife, Marianne, in which she describes his request for an “open marriage”; a recount of the Iowa caucuses revealing that Rick Santorum won more votes than Mitt Romney; and Rick Perry’s abrupt decision to drop out of the race and get behind Gingrich.

Rejecting the Keystone pipeline is an act of insanity

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/op…

President Obama’s rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico is an act of national insanity. It isn’t often that a president makes a decision that has no redeeming virtues and — beyond the symbolism — won’t even advance the goals of the groups that demanded it. All it tells us is that Obama is so obsessed with his reelection that, through some sort of political calculus, he believes that placating his environmental supporters will improve his chances.

    • I wholeheartedly agree with that notion. Regardless of the inflated job calls, such BS going on with this guy.

No, that opinion article is bullshit. It doesn't even address the aquafer in Nebraska that the pipeline would cross. a leak would poison the water for millions in that area. TransCanada proposed ONE route to circumvent this in late Nov. Not nearly enough time before the 60 day deadline imposed to verify the possible ecological impacts, or lack thereof.
If a mechanic said "i can put this new gasline in your car, but it may burst into flames and i don't have time to verify if it will or not" you'd likely tell him to hold off.
And that's ON TOP of the bullshit job numbers.

But it's brilliant on the Repubs part. Force him into making a move you know he'll make and then criticize him for making.
    Brilliant, but absolute repugnant bullshit.

    • No denying they tried to force the hand, however, it's a charade, calculated charade, much the same.
