"Last night, in between approving city expenditures and other routine agenda items, the Topeka, Kansas City Council debated one rather controversial one: decriminalizing domestic violence.
Here's what happened: Last month, the Shawnee County District Attorney's office, facing a 10% budget cut, announced that the county would no longer be prosecuting misdemeanors, including domestic violence cases, at the county level. Finding those cases suddenly dumped on the city and lacking resources of their own, the Topeka City Council is now considering repealing the part of the city code that bans domestic battery. [...]
Since the county stopped prosecuting the crimes on September 8th, it has turned back 30 domestic violence cases. Sixteen people have been arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery and then released from the county jail after charges weren't filed. "Letting abusive partners out of jail with no consequences puts victims in incredibly dangerous positions," said Becky Dickinson of the YWCA. "The abuser will often become more violent in an attempt to regain control."

And if you have to decriminalize something, why not start with wife beating rather than, you know, something important like drug possession? Why The GOP Is Advocating A Tax Increase On The Middle Class
You can almost always count on Republican presidential candidates to be united in their opposition to more taxes for the rich. But this time around, the 2012 field is standing lockstep behind a less traditional idea: the middle class pays too little in taxes.
Thanks to a strange convergence of conservative ideological trends since President Obama’s election, Republicans now are expected to protest the entire bottom half of taxpayers’ contributions as too stingy even while they proclaim Americans are “Taxed Enough Already.” And they’ve yet to figure out a policy that will satisfy both complaints at once.
In recent months, nearly every major Republican candidate has name-checked a popular statistic that 47% of Americans who file taxes paid no income tax in 2009. Given the GOP’s anti-tax zeal you’d think they’d be celebrating. Nope!
“Right now we know that 53% of Americans pay income taxes and 47% do not,” Michele Bachmann told Bloomberg TV on Tuesday. “I think we definitely need to change the tax code. We need to get more in line. Everybody benefits from this magnificent country. Everybody pay something.”

(I think you guys should really care about this. Do any of you know the background of George Soros? He collapsed the bank of england and overthrew 5 countries using the monetary system. England eventually banished him from their country so he made his way to America were he was welcomed with open arms.

With federal and state government cutting payrolls, the private sector must add about 400,000 per month to accomplish this goal.
The China Currency Bill would slap duties on Chinese imports products subsidized by China’s government engineered undervalued currency, raise U.S. production and create jobs in America. If China stopped intervening in currency markets the duties would stop.
Similarly, if the Obama Administration and governors stopped blocking the production of domestic oil and gas, new jobs in construction and building materials industry-such as cement and steel-would open up quickly. The initiative would be better than government stimulus spending, because it would raise revenue rather than require Washington to tax and borrow.

Libyan rebels abuse, torture prisoners, rights group says

Despite pledges of speedy prosecutions, the National Transitional Council, Libya's provisional authority since the ouster of Moammar Gadhafi, has yet to try any detainees, Amnesty said.
In at least two cases, Amnesty said, officials in charge of detention centers ignored orders that detainees be released.
The failure of Libya's revolutionaries to respect the rights of some of their detainees has been the frequent subject of news stories in the nearly two months since rebel forces seized control of Tripoli, but Amnesty's report, based on visits to 11 revolutionary jails, is the most systematic examination to date of the former rebels' murky and haphazard detention operation.
