Alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi ambassador to US – timeline
Key dates in alleged plot to kill Adel al-Jubeir, as described in court papers filed by the US justice department

Following are some key dates in the alleged plot, as described by court papers filed in New York and by US justice department officials at a news conference in Washington.
24 May One Iranian, Manssor Arbabsiar, meets in Mexico with a person posing as an associate of a drug trafficking cartel, but who in realty is an informant for the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
Arbabsiar asks about the informant's knowledge of explosives and explained he was interested in attacking a Saudi embassy.
2 June Arbabsiar returns to Mexico and holds more meetings with the informant in late June and early July. Arbasiar allegedly says his associates in Iran have discussed a number of "violent missions" including the murder of the Saudi ambassador to Washington, Adel al-Jubeir.
14 July The informant allegedly tells Arbabsiar that $1.5m is his price for carrying out the assassination, which he says he will use four men to carry out.
17 July The informant allegedly tells Arbabsiar one of his men has already carried out surveillance in Washington on the ambassador. They allegedly discuss bombing a restaurant the ambassador frequently dined at.
When the informant says others, including US senators who dined at the restaurant could be killed in the attack, Arbabsiar allegedly dismisses the concerns as "no big deal".
1-2 August Arbabsiar, with the approval of his co-defendant, Gholam Shakuri, allegedly send two wire transfers totalling $100,000 as a down payment for the hit.
28 September Arbabsiar flies to Mexico, but is denied entry and is placed on a return flight. The next day, during a flight layover, he is arrested by federal agents at JFK airport in New York.
4-5 October Arbabsiar makes phone calls – monitored by US law enforcement agents – to Shakuri, who is described as a member of the Quds force, a special unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guards. He is believed to be based in Iran.
Shakuri allegedly confirms to Arbabsiar that the plot should move forward as quickly as possible, stating: "Just do it quickly, it's late."

Many of McCaskill's fellow Democrats in Congress may also decide they are too busy to be with Obama, whose approval rating of about 40 percent as the economy struggles threatens to be a drag on their own reelection chances next year.
"You may see a number of Democrats say 'Sorry, I have a scheduling conflict,'" said a senior Democratic lawmaker.

“While I intend to support the president’s ultimate decision, I believe that he should consider expelling Iranian officials, especially known intelligence officers, from the Iranian Mission to the United Nations in New York, and the Iranian Interests Section in Washington,” said Rep. Peter King, New York Republican, in a statement.

'Green' firm with White House ties lined up to get massive guarantee

The company is Brookfield Asset Management. It boasts a board of nine directors, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's long-term girlfriend.
The Energy Department's promise to Brookfield marks the latest in controversial massive alternative energy loans to companies with strong ties to the Obama White House and to top Democrat lawmakers.
Last month, the grant was finalized to build the 99 megawatt Granite Reliable wind project in New Hampshire's Coos County, making it the state's largest wind plant.
Seventy-five percent of the new wind project is owned by BAIF Granite Holdings, which was created earlier this year by Brookfield Renewable Power, a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management of New York.
Since 2009, Brookfield has been represented by the lobby firm Heather Podesta and Partners, LLC.
Podesta, a top financial bundler for Democrat politicians, is wife of lobbyist and art collector, Tony Podesta, who is the brother of John Podesta.

Well, this is fucking interesting - the Wall Street Journal has been fraudulently boosting circulation numbers by "channelling money through European companies in order to secretly buy thousands of copies of its own paper at a knock-down rate, misleading readers and advertisers about the Journal's true circulation."

NewsCo sold 90% of their stake in the business to CME Corp in February 2010, very shortly after this scheme ran into trouble. People are going to start wondering if the Dow Jones indices have been rigged in any way."
