This law in Arizona is the EXACT same law that the Fed's have.. but won't enforce. It's actually lighter than the Feds law. I'll bet half the people who act so surprised about this law have no idea what is actually in it.1. You can't be asked about your documentation because of your race. They need to have reasonable suspicion.. just like in EVERY other case of the law that involves privacy.
2. You can't even be asked about your papers unless you do something else illegally.. for instance if you go to the market to buy milk the police can't stop you and ask you for documentation.. you'd actually have to rob the store before a cop could legally ask you for your papers.
This thing is heavily supported, which shocks me since almost everything I've seen in the media has gotten the facts so backwards: http://www.reuters.com/article/i…
Not to mention that in 2007 AZ passed a law that heavily fined employers for hiring illegals, so there really aren't a whole lot of illegals in AZ anyways. I view this law as being created to give law enforcement the tools they need to deal with the criminal illegal behavior that some illegals have engaged in.
And don't get me fucking revved up on LA Politics. A boycott, how cute. So Arizona won't be getting Broke LA County IOU's... so sad for Arizona. :D
