Here's another story, ‘Public Option’ in Health Plan May Be Dropped
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/1…
My reading of it is that Obama has never been all that committed to a public plan. The Dems have actually been working hand in hand with the medical industry on all of this, which makes the socialism label all the more ridiculous.
So, just curious, if the health care bill doesn't include a government run insurance plan, would those of you opposed to it still be opposed?
- You are so full of shit. But whatever makes you feel good.********
- haha, I like how you can't answer. Go turn on the TV so you know what to say.ukit
- It's on all day. Your Presidential pick is a loser. You should go back to your bottle now.********
- You are so full of shit. But whatever makes you feel good.

The "Phishey" website has been shut down by the Obama Administration as it's amateur hour at The White House.
- Do you spend all day being angry? Doesn't sound like much fun.ukit

"It's on all day"
You watch TV (Fox) all day? No wonder...hahaha

reasonable question: "So, just curious, if the health care bill doesn't include a government run insurance plan, would those of you opposed to it still be opposed?"
Irrational REAL proto-fascist douchetard response:
"You are so full of shit. But whatever makes you feel good. Your Presidential pick is a loser. You should go back to your bottle now."For historical illustration, 1920:
When asked what were his specific program goals of his facism by an Italian newspaper, Mussolini responded, "The democrats want to know what our program? It is to break there bones. And the sooner the better."
If you want to know why I respond to you with scorn and violence it's because you're a fucking plague on America, the country I happen to love.
- ukit0
Well...given he just said he keeps the TV on all day...it's not really a surprise that he's angry.
Imagine watching those cable news guys like Hannity and O'Reilly screaming about shit every day for a year and you can kind of understand the result.

let's do our public policy like a design-by-committee project. those always turn out well.
- ukit0
That's how it's always done. What do you think they call the groups that write legislation in Congress?

I love how everyone pro public Obamacare plan is now playing it down like it's only a small part of his attempt at reform. Even the president himself (ego?) Seems to me it's been the meat of his plan at reform.
Okay minus the proposed public health plan fail, what's in O's plan that's going to give the health care system the dramatic reform that we need? I am asking this with complete sincerity.
- i thought it was a big part of a huge, much needed plan. there is a lot of insurance industry tweaking going on.spifflink
- I was pro-plan and am now even more pissed at BO.TheBlueOne

absolutely nothing. he can say he tried when he runs in 2011.
- robotron3k0
All he's proposing is Medicare for those under 65, what's the big woop all about?? the US has been Socialistic since recovering from the great Depression...
- ..and certain people have been very, very angry about that reality ever since.TheBlueOne

Has Massachusetts been running pretty much the idea for health care that the administration wants to implement nationwide? If so, have they encountered problems, victories?
I get this from it..
- That article seems to be arguing for single payer universal health careukit

Bar raised. So we went from one automatic pistol at a presidential event last week to two loaded automatic rifles this today. Oh, and a pistol. This is fucking madness. People are going to get killed sooner or later.

From TBO's article:
Another protester, 12-year-old Micah Vandenboom, was there with her parents.
She held a sign that made clear her opposition to the president's health-care reform plans.
"Under Obama, everyone will get the same health care, that's socialism," she said. "It has failed in other countries, you know, like Europe."
*facepalm

I prefer this quote:
"If you think health care is expensive now, wait till it's free."
So true.
- ...from the same article.designbot
- explain.TheBlueOne
- Easy, government bureaucracy. It'll turn into a highly inefficient EXPENSIVE mess. It may take some time, but I have no faith the government could pull this off with any degree of success.designbot
- the government could pull this off with any degree of success. Too many hands in the basket.designbot
- I'm not saying it's impossible....just highly unlikely given their track record.designbot
- is this assuming that the current system iis functioning well?lowimpakt
- As opposed to a for-profit model? This is a retarded argument.DrBombay
- you have a good point low. But I don't think saying "It's screwed up already" warrants a half-baked solution (my opinion of course)designbot
- ..of course)designbot
- So we should privatize the military then. And the police. And the highway system. Their messes, right?TheBlueOne
- Also, we should immediately get rid of medicare and social security, those failures.DrBombay

Honest question for you folks who harbor enormous doubt as to just the effectiveness of universal health care in the US:
Who is that you actually envision while thinking that through? Is it some bungling faceless arm of the government? Why is it just "the government" to you?
Doesn't it seem more likely that since health care as an industry requires a lot of people, and in many cases experienced people, that these roles would be populated by people with lots of experience in health care already? Maybe people who, say, worked for Oxford, Blue Cross, Aetna, and so on?
And if that is still a problem for you, why would you want to keep the current model in place anyhow?- this thinking is part of the problem "health care as an industry requires a lot of people." it doesn't.johndiggity
