And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before You!" 19 But God said, "No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. 20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. 21 But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this season next year."

And then Abraham said to God, "What are you babbling on about?"

The Jews are descendants of Abraham’s son Isaac. The Arabs are descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael. With Ishmael being the son of a slave woman (Genesis 16:1-16) and Isaac being the promised son who would inherit the blessings of Abraham (Genesis 21:1-3), obviously there would be some animosity between the two sons. As a result of Ishmael’s mocking Isaac (Genesis 21:9), Sarah talked Abraham into sending Hagar and Ishmael away (Genesis 21:11-21). Likely, this caused even more contempt in Ishmael’s heart towards Isaac. An angel prophesied to Hagar that Ishmael would “live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Genesis 16:11-12).

And God replieth unto Abraham,
"Fear not, my son, for it will all make sense some day. The words that I speak to you now shall be revealed in the words and deeds of mankind. Not today, not tomorrow, but years from now, and in the years beyond those."
"Or maybe not. But let's face it, in the end, it does it really matter? I figured out a long time ago that if I spit out a bunch of mystical gibberish people will find a way to make it fit whatever they want. So in others words, I can never be wrong, which, let's face it, would open up all kinds of uncomfortable questions."
And Abraham said, "Sounds like a pretty good gig you got going there."
And God replieth, "Hell yeah it is."

"...why Jews/Muslims have always had animosity towards each other."
Get off it. What a load of total horseshit. The muslims actually gave shelter to the jews when the christians were trying to kill them all off in europe during the middle ages. I'm sure you like to couch everything in some sort of "cosmic war", but the truth is this is a purely local issue of nationalism and land between the zionist isrealis and the palestinians that started in about 1875 (thanks britian!) that others have milked for their own political and monetary gain ever since .
There's lots of things I could get into about the "religions of the book", but to be fair there is in there whatever you want to pull out, and it's been used for justification in periods of tolerance as much as conflict over the millenia.
And as long as you insist on pointing to some Bible passages as "proof" that these two proud peoples "aught" to be at each others throats, well sir, you just add to the insanity.
- TheBlueOne0
And what gets discussed as "serious political issues" is defined by you loud shrill voices on the extreme Right. And criticism of Obama from the Left isn't even discussed in the media. It's conspicuous by it's absence from the mainstream discussion presented by the "liberal media"..E.J. Dionne makes the point in his column today:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp…
Fuck, I am VERY critical of Obama's policies but I can't even get to it because I have to spend all my time responding to douchetard arguments like "Obama iz da anti-christ!". "He's one of dem muslams in disguise!" and "He's a socialist hitler dude who wants to take your guns!"

"the muslims actually gave shelter to the jews when the christians were trying to kill them all off in europe during the middle ages"
What does this prove TBO?
Perhaps I should have better qualified my statement. This of course is not the only reason why the hostility exists today. For example, Quran teaches that it was Ishmael who Abraham almost sacrificed to the Lord, not Isaac (in contradiction to the Bible). This debate over who was the son of promise is also a a reason for the modern hostility. You can't, however just blow off every thing the Bible records as much of it is accepted and verified history, get it?
Anyway, Obama is incredibly ignorant (though it is almost admirable) on what he hopes to accomplish among these peoples. He will not bring peace, because he cant. I also found it interesting how while during his campaigning he distanced himself as far as he possibly could from anything Muslim (including never using his middle name) and now he appears to be trying to capitalize on his Muslim roots he inherited through his father. He even used his middle name, which was kind of funny.
- It could all be purely political, I get that part.designbot

"He will not bring peace, because he cant. "
Right. Because it says so in your stupid little book. Way to condemn people that it's ok to murder each other and there's not a damn thing they can do about it because apparently Big Sky Daddy told them that's just the fucking way it is going to be 3,000 years ago.
Thanks for doing your tiny little bit to keeping our species in the fucking stone ages.
I'm done with this fucking thread, I really am. Fucking neanderthals, the lot of you.
- ukit0
Well hey man, at least he's trying!
- I give him complete credit for that. I never said I didn't want peace between these religions.designbot

Looks like the bankers are getting ready for the expensive oil prices later this year by storing fuel oil, and jet fuel in tankers all around the world.
"JPMorgan Hires Supertanker for Storage, Brokers Say (Update3)
By Alaric NightingaleJune 3 (Bloomberg) -- JPMorgan Chase & Co., the second- largest U.S. bank by deposits, hired a newly built supertanker to store heating oil off Malta, shipbrokers reported, in the company’s first such booking in at least five years.
The bank hired the Front Queen for nine months, according to daily reports from Oslo-based SeaLeague A/S and Athens-based Optima Shipbrokers Ltd. David Wells, a spokesman for JPMorgan in London, declined to comment.
JPMorgan, which has never hired an oil tanker based on data compiled by Bloomberg going back five years, follows companies including Citigroup Inc.’s Phibro LLC unit and BP Plc in hiring ships to store crude or oil products at sea. The firms are seeking to take advantage of higher prices later in the year.
“It’s opportunity-driven,” Sverre Bjorn Svenning, an analyst at Fearnley Consultants AS in Oslo, said by phone. “I doubt it’s going to be a permanent or new sort of trade.”
Heating oil for immediate delivery costs $553 a metric ton in northwest Europe and supplies for August are at $580, according to data compiled by Bloomberg."
